We are making our first holiday trip to WDW this year. We are driving from SC on Thurs. Dec. 15th arriving late that evening (prob. around 10 or 11pm?) We have ressies at AKL for the week starting the 16th booked with the BRP. We decided to drive the kids after school /arriving the 15th so that we dont waist the whole day 16th driving but i didnt want to pay the $150 for an extra night at the AKL.

So here is my delimma... I want to book the one night at POP using the BRP. We arrive late check in, sleep in, move over to AKL, check in,then go into a park, etc. However, I only have a voucher for my AP and will need to activate it to check in/ check out for the resorts.

I know that I have read that you could do it the next day...however, we need to check out the next morn and move over to AKL so I hate to have to get up early and go do the AP activation then!

So I was hoping that maybe DTD guest realtions stays open late? Or that the park that is open with extra hours would be able to activate my pass? Does anyone know about wether or not either of these would be possible? Or am I just creating more problems for myself by switching after one night...

Thanks for you help!!!!!!!

If it's only for sleeping, would it matter if you stayed onsite or not?

Personally, I like to drive into my vacation destination awake, alert, and taking in the sights. We're driving about 16 hours and getting a Country Inns and Suites about 2 hours out from Orlando. Then, next time, take a casual drive of 2 hours into WDW and check into WL. This way, you don't have to fight the Disney crowd during check-in and check-out.

No not really...I dont have to stay onsight, BUT...

Yes it is just for sleeping ...But I have not found a better rate than the BRP for the value resorts. Also staying onsite they will transfer my luggage from the resorts so i dont have to lug it back and forth...

As for driving, It is only about 7 hours :hourglass ... so stopping in another city/area is just not necessary.
We drive a lot for family vacations and prefer to drive at night. And for the matter of being awake and aware of the surroundings...we have been there and done this a few times! We just want to get there on property and relax! :goodvibes

Sorry. Misread. Thought you wrote first trip. But you said first holiday trip :)

I know that you like traveling at night, but what about leaving a little earlier so that you arrive early enough to activate your AP?

Marie

We cannot leave earlier because my kids are still in school. We have planned to pick them up from school that afternoon and then head out... which would probably put us in around 11pm? (at least I hope that traffic will not be bad)

But, I guess I have somewhat of a solution.... I called Disney today and asked a CM if maybe they had an answer. A very nice CM told me that the DD guest services is located between Pleasure Island and the West Side and is open unitl 2am! I had thought that it might be located in the Marketplace and close with the stores earlier...

Hopefully this will not be too hard?

I'm sure you will be able to check in with the voucher. That is what I was told when I made my BRP ressie for December. Although we will arrive and check in on the first, we don't want to activate our APs until the next day.
So we called and asked and were told that since we could make the ressie with the voucher, we would be able to check in with the voucher.

See you in the world - :earsgirl:
