Hello,

I just returned from WDW (Dec 3 -- 11th). I made ADR's for most meals and I am so glad I did.

I can not stress enough to everyone to make them even if you don't use them.

Each night, every restaurant I had a ADR for the lines were out the door for standby or they were simply turned away.

At Le Celliar (Dec 4th) a lady walked up thinking she would get in. Not! They were completely booked. Then she said that she's been to several restaurants and was told the same thing. They told her that all the sit down restaurants that evening at EPCOT were sold out. I was not surprised.

Same thing all week no matter where I was. On Sat Dec 3 for dinner at the Plaza restaurant, no availability. I had my ADR. :goodvibes

So, please, please make those ADR's. I went at a slower time, I can't even imagine it during the busy season!!

Thanks for the warning. I guess the new dining plan has made walking into restaurants a lot harder. Just the same, we're going without ADR's for our Christmas week trip. I thought about it and many of our favorite restaurants are counter service and we seem to save time and money eating at them. Also, when we feel like spending the time and money, we're more likely to take a bus, boat or train to a nearby hotel restaurant. The only park whose restaurants I really considered was MGM.

We don't like chicken strips and hot dogs (well, one son does)and find lots of interesting options especially in Epcot and MK. I don't like any AK restaurants but lam still somewhat open to a table-service at MGM if there is little wait.

We plan to hit Kobe one night and have dinner at a table-service restaurant at IOA. My concern now is that the counter-service places will be more jammed than usual. Btw, I can't wait to try the Noodle Station. Padd Thai with shrimp and a noodle bowl with tofu? That's for me!

The reason that the Epcot restaurants are sold out is also due to the Candlelight - between that and the dining plan, it really has booked a lot of restaurants solid. Other times of the year generally aren't quite as bad.

I strongly disagree with this portion of the post. I'm sure you meant it with good intentions, but people doing this is what is causing the restaurants to be at "capacity" when actually they are not.

We were told that Ohana was sold out when we walked in with our ADR, and literally 1/3 of the restaurant was empty. I asked the waitress and she said "no shows".

PLEASE make the ADR's you are going to use, but cancel, as soon as you can, those that you are not. Holding out because you "may" get there may be depriving someone who actually is there looking to be seated.

I should have added to that to cancel them if you are not going to use them.

I did for 2 that we decided on not doing. I didn't mean to make as many ADR's as possible and then not cancel them. I should have worded that differently.

And it was not only the EPCOT restaurants, many other places were busy. We decided on House of Blues one night, only to find that completely gone. I even tried to go there to see if there were any no shows. Forget it! There was probably 100 people in line at the door.
