I am a DVC member, but want to make a cash reservation for 2 nites at the fort the first weekend of April. It will be our first trip to the fort. DVC says they have no availability and the regular reservation line says no reservations past Jan 15 right now. How far in advance can I call to get the reservation? Is there a good chance I won't be able to get in? (It is the weekend before Easter)

You can make reservations (on the phone) up to 500 days in advance. So, a reservation made today would have to check out before Sunday, November 29, 2009.

You can make reservations on line for any date rates have been set for. Currently the rates are only valid through 12/31/08, so that is the last day you could do it on line.

What you are running into is making a reservation for a popular time; spring break.

Keep calling back, someone will cancel a reservation.

Perhaps it's because the rates for campsites for 2009 are not out yet??? I can book a campsite on points through DVC, so there is inventory. Do they release more inventory as time goes on?

Although booking with DVC points is possible it is not always probable. Only a certain amount of points are put aside for DVC, if any, and once they're gone, they're gone. Good luck though. Keep trying. I'm still trying the same thing for December. I have my cash ressie but would be happy to convert to points.

Call the regular booking line if you are not using points. I tried to use points for the last week in August and there was no availability. I made a cash reservation and had no problem getting exactly what I wanted.

And by the way, unless you really need to use up the points or don't plan on using that at the villas, its cheaper to use cash. We usually use our points because they no longer allow smoking in rooms and DH smokes like a chimney!
