From Sunday night
And from tonight, Monday....Hi everyone,
Just a note to ask everyone to please keep David in your thoughts this week.
Tomorrow (Monday) at 2:30 he will get all his testing done (bloodwork, chest x-ray, EKG, IV put in, etc.) in the Pre-Op Clinic, and he will begin his fasting.
Tomorrow we will also find out if David is first case or second case for Tuesday. If he is first case, his cath will be started at 7:30 a.m.. If he is second case, it will be done when the first case is finished. We will post when we know more.
They will be attempting to dilate David's pulmonary arteries and coil off some of his collaterals. What (and when) our next step will be after this cath is heavily dependent on how things go this Tuesday, so please send your best wishes to David that Dr. Lang is able to do what he wants to do, and that it works. We also hope that David will come off of the anesthesia, etc., easier than he did the other two times.
Thank you.
Kathleen, Norm, & David
Hello All. David's first day went pretty much as planned. Sorry this update is late but the computer room was closed today. Due to the fact that many offices and clinics were closed for the holiday, many of his tests and exams had to be performed by nurses and doctors on 6-east. Everything went fine - just took a little longer than expected. We talked with one of the doctors who will be assisting with David's cath, and went over the procedure and its possible risks. He will be the first case in the morning and things should start around 8:00am. Depending on how much they can accomplish, the entire process will take between 2 and 4 hours. They only plan on using pain killers and relaxers, so recovery time should be fairly quick. He should be breathing on his own throughout the process unless they do more "ballooning" of his arteries than expected.
