Please, if you could, keep Vince's dog, Doc, in your good thoughts *Update late Tues*

Best of luck to Doc. Furbabies are so important to us all. Hope all turns out well, Dan.

"All creatures great and small..."

Here's lots of prayers coming your way!!!!!!!

Of course we will keep Doc, Vince and the rest of Doc's family in our thoughts and prayers. Please keep us posted on what you find out. My furry babies are my babies too.

Oh Dan,

You know Doc, Vince and all of you for that matter will be in my thoughts and prayers. It is sooo hard when a furry is sick or hurt! Hope he won't need chemo. Any holistic type treatment out there that might help?

I'm saying a prayer for Doc. We lost our beloved black lab Jake four weeks ago today to lymphoma. I did some internet research and found that chemo is very tough on dogs, and it usually only buys 6 months to a year. Jake was diagnosed on 12/31, and he probably could not have handled chemo anyway, even though he never showed any signs of illness until right before Christmas (we thought it was a cold, put him on antibiotics, then took him back to the vet when the lymph nodes swelled again). We put him on prednisone and saw an immediate improvement in how he felt - his appetite came back, etc. We had him put down because he began to suffer, and we did not want the inevitable to occur with pain. Please consider prednisone - it was a great help to him. I'm sorry, and I wish you all good luck.

:( I'm so sorry to hear this. He's so young!

Dan, please tell him to consider chemotherapy if he can swing it. I believe the average prognosis with it is two years, and I had one patient in school who was on his SIXTH year of remission with chemo.

a heartfelt prayer that all will be well.

Keeping you all in my thoughts...:(

BTW, don't listen to the rumors. Dogs take chemotherapy VERY well; they just don't tend to have the problems that we have with them. If he has any questions, definitely see an oncologist.

Do NOT let the vet give him pred unless he knows for sure that he doesn't want to try the other meds (BTW, Prenisone IS chemotherapy). Dogs treated w/prednisone do not usually respond to the other chemotherapy drugs.

Dan- I will pray for all of you. My house is a mini zoo. we have a puppy, two cats, a bird and a gerbil. We really love our pets, and they are a huge part of our lives. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious. If you need a second opinion a know a couple of good vet practices.

Dan, I'm sorry about Doc. Of course I'll add him, and you all in my prayers.

Sending huggs, prayers and happy thoughts Doc's way. My best to you all.

Oh no, Dan, I'm so sorry.:( I will certainly keep Doc, and Vince in my prayers. I just love my furry children, and worry about them almost as much as I do my "real" children.

I wish you all the best with your "grand dog". They are so much like family. My prayers are with you.

Dan, you know Doc will remain in my prayers. I do hope for the best

Dan, Our pets are bona fide family members. They give us unconditional love. Prayers that Doc will be okay.

Just stopping by to thank so many of you for your kind words and thoughts, much appreciated. I was out doing errands and on my way to stop by my office this afternoon and had called Marie and Vince to hear the outcome of the vet appointment today. When I got to the office, I thought I would share with our family here on the DIS. You all are such a support. Home now and nice to see Doc again. Again, thanks.
