So I'm going to Florida in 38 days! I am super excited, it will be my 4th trip, and this time I get to bring a friend!!

Here's my problem, I'm kinda overweight and I was wondering if any other people had the same problems as me right now.

*Picky Eater
*184 Pounds
*5'5''
*14, will be 15 in August
*Hates ALL vegetables
*No sports

I really want to lose a lot of weight this summer, preferably by the first week of September, that way I can be smaller for my first day at a new school! I'm hoping to reach 150 or even a little less, I just don't want it to be too unhealthy...

So I'm just hoping someone had the same problems that I'm having now, and they managed to succeed in their weight loss, that way I have some hope... Also, if you could maybe tell me what you did to make it work, that would be great!

Thanks so much!

Well I have a weight problem and a trip coming up with friends next month and I heard that vegetarianism was a good diet to go for. For one weekend I tried it and went for a daily walk (about half an hour to an hour) and I felt better and lighter. So I'm going to try this diet for a month and see how it goes.

Also I always carry an apple (my favourite fruit) around with me in my bag, it seems strange but whenever I get tempted to buy a packet of crisps or a cheeky snack I'll always have my apple to fill the gap :)

Goodluck!

HI! I am totally new to this website. I completely understand your problem! I have the same thing going on and it sounds like we have a similar body except I am a little taller. Here is what I did. First of all, I TRY to limit my food consumption to one snack and two meals a day(the snack for breakfast). Then I try not to sit around, even if you are not athletic and you hate sports doesn't mean that you cant walk to different places or even do work around the house. Do anything you can to keep from sitting still for to long. Another secret do not eat to big of a dinner before bed, all of the calories you eat before you sleep will just sit in your body and turn to fat. And honestly dont worry to much about your weight, because the best way to slim down is to build muscle, and you cant do that without gaining a few. Hang in there, and everyonce in a while treat yourself to some icecream. Have fun at Disney

to try and lose weight, swim alot! It helps. And make sure when you head to a resturant to ask if the food comes in different portions. Make sure you check with your mom and dad about what you think will be good.

Hiya!

I understand where your coming from, I'm 4'10" and I was at 145 pounds, but I am a sort of athlete cause I was in an olympic kayaking program, but I quit and my muscle turned to fat. So you have to think of a few things.

First, don't hate veggies, there are 1000's of varieties and it is physically impossible for you to hate them all. Try thinking you may like a new one. Don't assume you'll hate it because it is labeled a veggie. That a problem I had, I immediately hated anything and it turns out i liked a lot of them. If the texture of say, cooked bell peppers are yucky then just chop up some fresh and eat the as a snack. Celery and carrots are also great small snacks.

Second, cut down on fruit. Believe it or not most people eat tons a fruit a day thinking it is healthy but the reason it is sweet is because it has sugar. Natural sugar yes, but that is still sugar. So try to eat less then two apples and three handfuls of berries a day. That will help you 'wane' off of sugar. Three, lower your bread intake. Don't stop it because that cant be really bad if you don't have any veggies to replace the carbs, but try to lessen it. I cannot live without cereal or french bread so try eating one slice instead of two. Being conscience of what you eat will help you.

Third, dairy, the holy grail of yummy. Okay so i'm obsessed with cheese. I cannot live without it, so I suggested only buying low fat cheese, and when it comes to milk, do not get whole milk. I used to love it but it really changes the flavor of cereal, so I have 0% and I drink more of it knowing I'm being healthier. it might take you a while to get down to 0% so just go from whole to 2% to 1% to 0% it will take time but trust me it gets better.

Fourth, meat, okay I hate steak. I only eat filet mingnon because it requires less chewing. I love chicken and fish but beef other than burger beef are the bane of my existence. I'd go for leaner beef if you like it or cut it out entirely.

Fifth, Water, Drink TONS. I know you hear this all the time but, water will make you full. So don't drink sodas or fruit juices thinking their water. I quit sodas and lost 10 pounds in like a month. So you never know how much you could lose from eliminating that.

And finally Sixth, Exercise, so you hate exercise? make it fun, don't run don't lift weights just dance around to music for 30 min or walk outside and play your DS/read a book/text. There are many easy ways to do exercise without thinking your doing it so try to find something you enjoy :) I dunno if this will help you and I'm not being mean in any of it, but if it does great! if not then I hope you find something that does! It worked for me and it may work for you.

Okay, I think I'm going to try this! I just got weighted today at the doctor and sadly I was off from what I thought I was... I'm currently 203lbs. I literally broke down crying when he said how much I was... So, I'm giving up on soda, I already drink 0% milk and I'm going to start exercising daily. I'll keep you updated on how it works out! :)

I'm sorry about that, going to the doctor sucks! I'm super excited to hear your going to do it though. Maybe you should keep a blog of what your doing and eating each day so you can see what your eating and so people can make suggestions to help you :D If you want I'll make one with you if you need support or someone to do it with :)

something to start you off that is simple and most people never think to do is to just drinking water. I know it sounds crazy but most people don't drink enough water and when they think they are hungry they actually are only thirsty. if you don't believe me, here is an article that explains it all!!!

best of luck to you!!!

Hi so I would love to share my sucess story with you. So when i first realized i was over weight I was in eight grade. I like you didn't like veggies. When i was getting ready for my eigth grade dance th only dress I could get was around a size 20-22 and pushing 200 pounds. So that I summer i tried doing weight watchers with my mom, which just wasn't my thing. But I wasn't ready to give up so even after i quit WW I just kept going with other stuff. I eat on schedule, breakfast, lunch, small snack and smallish dinner. I get seventeen magazine and do their monthly work outs. :yay: And not everyday but as often as i could. I also try not to sit stilll for two long, which is hard because i'm creative and like to write or scrapbook. I also did other things that were more mental, 1 I stop comparing myself to other girls, like thinking "Am I the same size as her?" 2 Putting other girls down in my mind, like "she's ugly" or she's fat. 3. I became happy with myself. Those three things were honnestly the hardest things for me cuz I'll be honest and say I can be pretty judgemental. I also go to a small school so everybody has known everybody since kindergarten so I have never dated everyone cuz for most guys I had been labeled "the fat girl" and I was shy.
Well now I'm a Jr in high school getting ready for JR prom :scared1: I'm in that ackward size betweenn plus size and regular jr's. So when I got my dress I got the smallest size in plus Juniors and had to get it taken in around an inch & half. I'm probably around 175 or maybe a little bigger but that is because i've gained a lot of muscle. I've become more confident with the weight lose too. Although I don't have a date to prom I have a guy at school who I believe is looking beyond weight to who I really am and is beginning to like me:woohoo: My happiest accomplishment is actually disney relate, I was on the cruise around a month ago and was able to buy a shirt that was about 2 sizes smaller than i was in 8th grade.
It has taken me about 3 years to get to a place where I feel pretty 4 out of 7 days a week. I'm a lot more outgoing and confident. I'm so proud of myself but I'm not quite done yet with my journey. I know that if I can do it anyone can do it. My best advice is use the mental tricks of not judging yourself or others and then find an eating trick or schedule or routine that works for you. I hope you have fun in Florida with you friend and mnake sure you treat yourself to your favorite food everyonce in a while (I get a med size popcorn everytime I go to the movies). Good luck!

I understand where your coming from, I'm 4'10" and I was at 145 pounds,

i totally relate to you! im 4'11 and 146 pounds. its kinda hard for me to lose wieght though, i mean i was a cheerleader but the seasons kinda over now and i go running everyday but that hasnt been helping. my dad lost 26 pounds and hes now 170 and 53 years old! he didnt do much but it went off and i tried working out, that didnt help either.

I just finished a diet last week called "The 17 Day Diet" It works great, it it revolves around eating healthy foods. It's a book, so if you're interested you can pick it up at Hastings or something. But the problem there is, they encourage you to eat lots of veggies. Heres a little thing that may help you, though: For maybe a couple weeks, stop eating bread. It works quite well; it did for my mother and I, anyway.

Best of luck to you!

I understand what your going through. I've been trying to lose weight for years and it never seems to work. It actually seems like I've gained wait. So more recently I've been concentrating more on maintaing my weight, so I don't gain any more. One good tip is to cut out high calorie drinks. I only drink iced tea that's only 3 calories per serving. It's not zero like water but it's a lot better and an 150 calorie drink.
