So after another family tiff :headache: my wedding numbers seem to be dropping even lower and lower :sad2::eek:!!Originally I was having an escape wedding for 18people at SBP followed by lunch at Attic and DP at Sago Cay - everything was happy :cloud9:
But now my numbers seem to be 8!!!!Yes 8 and that inlcudes me and DF!!!!!!! I so had my heart set on my day above now I dont know what to do!!It seems silly to spend $7500 for 8 people (even though it would be goregous :)) and 8 people would look silly in those venues (i really wanted a bit of privacy too - my guests are not ones to be centre of attention!)!!So what do I do? I really want to see wishes on my wedding day and I want it to be speical but now i just dont know what to do?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Please please please offer some sort of advice!!

Oh i'm sorry to hear you're having these troubles! Have you thought of watching the fireworks from the Poly Beach? Or you could even book tickets for the public Dessert Party in the Magic Kingdom? It wouldn't be private but would be nice and low key and have a good atmosphere. Hope everything works out! :wizard:

I don't have any advice for you. A lot less people are coming to my wedding than I expected too. I would be happy with 40ish guests, but now it's down to about 25 and in DF's culture they have hundreds of guests. We wouldn't have had that many anyway, but he's not too happy with me booking a Disney wedding now that it is so few. :grouphug:

Oh no I'm so sorry!

An idea could be that you have a dinner at California Grill for your party and go out onto the catwalk for Wishes. I believe that you can still wear your wedding dress.

We had a Sago Cay dessert party and it was really wonderful but honestly, you could save so much money to just have the dinner. They have the music piped in. :confused3

I think you can also do this at Narcoosee. They have a verandah that you can go out onto and see wishes from there and they also pipe in the music.

We are a total party of eight too. We've booked late ADR's at CRT and hope to view wishes from the castle.

right now the windows in CRT are blocked :( i think they have been for a while :( even when they're not, the view is very bad because of where they set them off.

have you thought about cali grill or narcoossee's? you'd for sure see them and you could stay in your dress!!

Oh... Thanks for your concern, but I knew that already. What I meant was outside within the castle 'grounds' iykwim. :flower3:

I know it's not really what you planned but why not consider a reception at a restaurant and follow it with a Sago Cap DP. We are being even more cheap and having dinner at Citrico's and then wandering down to Narcossee's Landing and watching the fireworks. They pipe in the music and it's free!!! Whatever you decide, it will be a fabulous day. You are getting married and you are in Disney!!!!

I'm sorry to hear you're having family trouble and your guests numbers have fallen but personally if the private lunch at the Attic & Sago Cay DP is what you want then I'd still have it.

We are only having around 8 guests ourselves and we really wanted a private reception which is why instead of using a restaurant we're still going to have our meal in one of the private rooms (hopefully Whitehall) even with such a small guest count, hopefully it won't be strange or look silly. We were also planning on having a DP at Epcot but I really wanted to see Wishes so we're going to hire the Grand 1 yacht for a Wishes cruise instead of doing the DP

Look silly to who? We are having 12 including the groom and I with ceremony at SBP, reception at a ballroom in Boardwalk Inn, and dessert party in Epcot. It is your day. Do what you want to do. Don't let other people spoil it for you. Spend the money you were going to spend on the people not coming on those that are and on something you want.

So suppose you had even fewer people than that?? Me and the DF were thinking about doing an Illuminations dessert party (would be Wishes, but not available that night) for the night of our wedding. We're almost at the minimum $7500, and the DP would kick it there. The question.. Is it worth the money and the trouble for just a couple of people?? We're already doing the MK/Epcot shoot the morning of our wedding. We just thought it would be really cool to have the DP. We don't want to invite any of our guests. We can't get a definite answer on whether they can make it to the wedding, much less a DP. Def. not throwing money out on that!!

Sorry to hijack the thread!

It should be about what you want to do. Our "famous" Lurkyloo had a private "dessert" party at epcot for an anniversary. So no reason you couldn't have one on the night of your wedding. I bet it would be very romantic and memorable. ;)

I agree that if that's what you want to do for your wedding that is what you should do. And it will be goregous!
I have always told my friends when they are getting married "you only get married for the first time once so you can do whatever your heart desires"

I found myself in a similar situation where not many people wanted to travel down to Orlando for a wedding. Even my bff who's overseas said she wouldn't be able to make it in Orlando. Honestly I thought that was a joke since shed be traveling overseas regardless if she wanted to attend. So I told her I understand and know she wishes me the best. Honestly don't let it get you down. What I decided instead is to invite my closest and dearest and do a 4 day disney cruise and get married at castaway cay. It will be intimate, memorable and I can enjoy vacation with those I love and I don't have to pull my hair out to make it happen. In the end its going to cost me as much as it would to have had the wedding in the parks. I'm going to cover all the expenses except airfare.

I'm going to keep it small only paying for 10 people plus the cost for ceremony per head for whoever decides to come. I'll leave it open to those I originally invited who are suddenly able to come, but at there expense (I've noticed since somehow some family members found out we are paying for our immediate family all the sudden everyone can make it). We will host a big bbq when we get home for those who couldn't make it to Disney.

I'm sure you'll make it work don't stress it out.

destination weddings are not easy..... I had the same problem , so we ended up booking a memories package just for us , after we signed the contract , our families decided to come :confused3 , so we upgraded to an escape , but now that they are coming , it's difficult , they are only available on certain days for certain meals ...... i am going to book a lunch at a restaurant (still struggling with which one ) as our reception , then take off with DH to enjoy the rest of te day..... we are going to do a CG dinner on our last night .JUST US

I can totally relate! And I am sorry you are going through all this; but you know Sweetie - the day is really for the two of you. Forget everyone else! It took me and my DH a bit to realize our day is for us and if our friends and family can't make it - well it's their loss - not ours.

DH & I renewed our vows at the WP - just a few weeks ago - we had a total of 6 people (and yes, that included me & DH). This was our 20th anniversary. DH's family were all invited since none of them made it to our wedding 20 years ago. At first they were all happy and going. As the date got closer - they all couldn't make it (even DH's father!) I don't have any family (only child and my parents have passed away). And I've never met DH's father! LONG story there! But with all the health issues DH has had the last 2 years we really thought his father at least would come to our renewal. I also asked him to escort me down the aisle. But alas...he "couldn't" make it (read: he's too cheap to fly or drive 800 miles). We even reserved rooms at Disney for them all! I finally told DH "the heck with them!"

We ended up having a wonderful day - yeah the WP looked empty with only 4 guests in the pews - but I didn't really notice when I walked down the aisle. My focus was (not to fall) and my DH. After the cake & champagne at the Commander's Terrace the limo took us back to the hotel (we stayed at the Boardwalk) and then all got back together again for dinner. I had made an ADR at the Wilderness Lodge for all of us. It was our treat to our guests.

Again, I'm sorry you are going through this. Don't let "party poopers" ruin your day! Sending you lots of pixie dust!!

I'm probably a little biased here but I say don't worry that there will be fewer guests than you hoped for and go for it anyway!

Our wedding is in 12 days time and so many people have pulled out either due to finances or babies that are about to be born etc. We're still pushing the boat out and having a private reception and dessert party at Sago Cay even though there will only be six of us.
