How would i become a DVC member?
We are moving to Kissimmee next year.
or would it be better to just get the yearly passes?

If you live there, go with the yearly pass.

DVC is the Disney Vacation Club (I think) and has to do with a resort stay.

On the Dis forums there is a DVC community - ask there- they (DVC) often has incentives for you to join - I've been to one in Chicago - I love staying Deluxe and paying moderate resort prices!!! Animal Kingdom now has DVC - each resort has such a different feel, to appeal to all kinds of vacations -

so go to the DVC Mousellaneous board and ask away!!

When we were at WDW recently, they set up booths in all the parks (felt like everywhere you looked) pushing DVC. So if you just visit or contact the World, I'm sure you'll easily have your questions answered. Doesn't sound like you need DVC though, as others have said, if you're going to be living right there.

Go with the AP But wait till you live there and get the FLorida resident ones.
DVC has a cost of about 10k to 12k to get in and then you pay hefty dues each year, you are buying into a time share at disney.

Being that close you got to get the AP.

I would say if you are that close, the annual pass is probably more feasible, but it still doesn't get you a STAY onsite. So if looking for the total feel of staying onsite, don't rule out DVC. Call them and ask for the DVC video. From our experience dealing with them, you will not receive any high pressure sales at all. If you would like to only stay every other trip or so, you can often find a small DVC contract by checking the timeshare store resales. They are great people to work with and will help you, again without any pressure sales. So if you want to stay onsite from time to time, don't shy away from DVC and don't be afraid to call and check it out.:cool1: They are just starting a new DVC at the AK. Here is a link to the resales.

One of us probably isn't understanding something here.

DVC is a timeshare. You'd be buying into a timeshare in the local area where you'll be living. It isn't a "club" to join.

I live in a resort town. Personally, I wouldn't dream of buying a timeshare in my local area -- what would be the point???

DVC is a timeshare, but not in the standard sense that you buy a certain week and that is all you get. With DVC basically you get to stay at WDW resorts prepaid. As long as you plan to go frequently, then it is worth it to us. You get better accommodations and are staying onsite, which is a huge part of the magic to us. If staying onsite is not a big deal, then maybe not for you. If you like staying onsite in better than average accomodations, then don't rule it out.:thumbsup2 Like I mentioned earlier you don't have to buy a full contract of 150 points. Buy a smaller contract if your only want the onsite experience occasionally. :cool1:
