I need some help and advice . The last time we went to Disney we were there for 4 days. By the end of day two my feet hurt so bad I had to take some tylenol pm just to be able to sleep. We have a trip coming up in December for 7 days and I want to keep my feet feeling good. I dont understand why they hurt so bad anyway I am young and very slender. I friend of mine said she thought maybe my arch was too high (if there is such a thing) anyway last time I wore New Balances but I am currently in search of a comfortable tennis shoe to get me through the long days(We are park commandoes) Does anyone have any suggestions on a pair of shoes or maybe someways to pamper my feet while in our room. Any suggestions would be great. Thank You!!!

Young and slender does help but if you are not used to being on your feet and/or walking that much...you're gonna get sore feet and/or legs. Try getting in walking shape....walk a few blocks, then a mile and work up to 3 miles. I am going in 44 days and am up to 3 1/2 miles per day. And you will feel good too!!!

By the way, New Balance is one of the BEST shoes you can buy for this purpose. You shouldn't have had pain because of the shoes.

I do exercise quite a bit and I can't wear the new balances. My husband complains about his hurting his feet as well and he dosent complain about any of his other shoes. I do wish to stay away from New Balance for this trip.

Hmm...I'm usually fine with my Adidas tennis sneakers or flip flops - and we go for 11 days! You may need to get special orthopedic shoes if the problem is your arch. When you get back to the room, just soak them, or see if someone will give you a foot massage. ;)

Get and carry moleskin in your bag with you. It was a lifesaver for my wife while we were at WDW. As soon as you feel a "hotspot" stop and fix it with the moleskin.

I dont ever get blisters my feet just get sore especially the arch of my feet.

If it's especially the arch, maybe take a visit to your podiatrist. Hope your trip is great and sore-feet free! :)

I have not checked out the thread mentioned in another person's post but it may mention what I am mentioning.

BODYGLIDE -- it is the stick stuff that you put on feet (and other places) where chafing is involved. I know you didn't really mention that and I am unsure what the problem is. Were your feet aching??? Tired. I swear this stuff helped immensely not only chafing but my feet get dry and tired and I put this on and my feet feel GREAT! It can be found in sporting good stores since it is used by runners. Or check them out on the web (www.bodyglide.com) to find out more. There are different kinds and I am not sure which mine is ... but I think the SKIN kind is what you would want for feet.

Hope you find what the problem is and your feet don't hurt!

My mother buys in-soles with magnets in them and swears by them. I have had some in the past, but I do not spend the amount of time on my feet that she does.

Not sure what the cost is.

I dont have any problems at all with blisters just sore aching feet and just wanted a recommendation for a good shoe (preferably not one that will make me look 80)

I have a lot of foot pain, too. Had surgery about 25 years ago (I was 19 at the time) on both of my heels, so I know how hard it can be. My first trip to WDW about five years ago, I was hobbling around every morning.

I agree with the posters who said you should "train" before going to WDW. It doesn't matter if you're young and slender if your feet are not used to walking five to six miles a day. That amount of stress and pounding on anyone's feet can be a problem. I tried this trick on my last trip ("training" beforehand) and it really helped a lot.

I wear mostly sneakers (open backed sneaker "mules") at WDW so they don't rub on my heels. My current mules are Easy Spirits - very cushy and comfortable, almost like wearing slippers. My advice is to get some shoes (whatever brand you think is best for you) way before your trip, so that you can really break them in. Work up to at least two or three miles per day while wearing those shoes.

Bring two or three pairs of shoes so that you can switch between them every day. Also, you'll have some back-up shoes in case your main pair don't end up being comfortable. Bring good, cushy socks, too.

Also, stretch your feet at night (point and flex them to stretch the muscles and tendons). Soaking them in epsom salts or a foot bath might also make them feel better.

Good luck!

It's weird, when in Disney, I wore sandals (earthshoe something or other) I bought at Wal-Mart. I wore them most of the trip, we walked on average 10 miles a day (thanks to our trusty pedometer), and with those sandals, my feet NEVER even ached. The one day I wore my New Balance sneakers, I thought I might die. So, maybe there's something to the NB sneaks after all.

I have a pair of New Balance & a pair of Rockport sneakers that I wear. I switch off with them. Both pair of sneakers are very comfortable. The last couple of times I've been to WDW, I haven't had an issue with blisters. However, my feet were sore at the end of the day. Like another poster said, when you are walking about 10 miles a day and pounding the pavement, there will be some wear & tear on the footsies. We have a jacuzzi tub where we stay. If I don't stay in that room, I get in the jacuzzi by the pool where we stay to relax all the muscles and get rejuventated for the next day.

Im a New Balance wearer myself and LOVE THEM! I get ACHEY PARK FEET as well, and I work on my feet all day long every day, so I think it just depends on the person.

What I do to help my feet when we are doin the parks COMMANDO style, I always pop a couple Bayer in the AM and the afternoon. I wear big ol cushiony comfy socks, and I change shoes once a day. It seems to help.

Then at bedtime, when my feet are just throbbing, I take a couple more bayer and they feel better in the AM ready to go again!

My hubby used to wear Nike and his feet hurt too, changed to New Balance, still hurt, (when we were in WDW) but the NB were soooooo comfy to his feet.

To each his own I reckon!

I would suggest that you start first with a proper foot evaluation. Find your local running store where those people fitting your feet/shoes understand your arch issue. In other words, don't go to the New Balance store in the mall or to Dick's. (Nothing against those stores. In my experience however the people in the shoe department don't have much experience with evaluating your feet.) A proper evaluation would include measuring your feet as well as watching you walk. Some places will even have you stand on a device that will evaluate your arch. Second, try on different sizes of shoes that you like. Not all size 8 shoes are cut on the same mold, even in walking/running shoes from the same brand. Third, go and try on the shoes in the afternoon. Everyone's feet are a little bigger in the p.m. If you have your foot measured, make sure you measure both feet as it is common to have one foot bigger than the other. Finally, in terms of arch support, you can buy a stock orthotic from Sorbathane (not sure of spelling) that has a graphite arch support, You simply pull out the included insert from your shoe and replace it with the new insert. If your arch needs extra support these work wonders. These supports are available at places like Dick's and are usually a little cheaper than at a specialty store. Still the inserts run around $25. A small price to pay though for happy feet!

Hope this helps.

1st off :welcome: glad you came in to join the party:

NEXT take the time to go to a shoe store that is upper end. Get someone to measure your feet -- I don't mean someone like Sears or Payless. This will be a specialty shoe store that most cities have. The clerk will be MORE than happy to help you find the best shoes for your feet! I bought a pair in our cities last time we went now they were over $100 but they lasted FOREVER and my feet never hurt. They still looked like decent walking shoes so I never felt out of place.

Hope this helps.

I have really good luck with Asics. They're wider in the front and more narrow in the heel. They are also "mesh" which allows for flexibility and breathing. You may want to check out a shoe store that specializes in running/athletic shoes to get the propper fit. I recently found out that womens feet can sometimes swell up to a half size larger with the heat, walking, etc. Many times if a shoe/sneaker is too small you'll start feeling a numbing or "falling asleep" sensation which can cause pain.

I have problems with my knees and back, espcially after having my son. I've been wearing Asics for about 5 years now and have excellent results.

Good luck and here's to "happy feet". ;)

just wondering if it is strictly your feet that hurt or if you end up having pains in you knees too? if so then i would talk to a doctor about it because it may be a problem with the archs of your feet. (yes it is real, both ways of having one too high and barely having one at all) and what part of your feet hurt? was it the arch or more the heal?
also try other brands of shoes. one brand is not made for everyone. you also may want to try some of the shoe insole things, like Dr. Scholl's.
hope you find what helps
