This is the plan:my sister & family(her hubby, daughter, sil and 2 grandsons) are going down on the 20th of Dec.I am going down on the 24th(but am really going down on the 23rd to surprise my neice) cause its her 40th birthday. She and I are always the ones planning the dinners and everything else and she has alredy said to me " I am probably going to have to plan my own birthday". I want to surprise her 1st by meeting them early and next by planning the evening of her birthday. We have gone to almost every restaurant in Disney sure we missed a few but I need your HELP on where to go. Should I do a GRAND GATHERING or just a special dinner ? What do you think? Please help. TIA MariannePS I already told my sister and we are going to discuss it Thursday nite. :wave2: :goodvibes party: :bday: :cake:

We've done very nice special occasions at Spoodles for dinner, finishing the evening with Illuminations. We have ordered birthday cakes from the Grand Floridian and Boardwalk Bakeries to be delivered during our dinner. You need an ADR to do this. It makes for a very special evening. That is casual; you may want something more fancy. It depends on what you prefer.

We are casual so that is a good idea, not too sure about Spoodles as we have eaten there already, but ordering the cake from GF or BWB sounds like a good idea. any other ideas please! Thanks Mickey :wave2:

We have done the Fireworks Cruise for IllumiNations from the YC. We ordered a cake from the YC bakery and a bottle of champagne, sodas and water. The pontoon boat was decorated with balloons,

For my 40th DH arranged for dinner for about 20 of my family members in the Fireplace Room at Victoria's and Albert ... it was an incredible evening.

The private dining room/wine room at both the Cali Grill and Citrico's are options as well.

Good luck!

Thanks for taking the time out to reply. all the ideas sound great. just hoping to hear a few more.TIA Marianne :grouphug:

Marianne - That is so sweet of you. :goodvibes

I am turning 40 in July and I am the planner and the true WDW lover in my family. I am planning my own bday. :p So.....as long as I have to plan my own, I am doing it right! :goodvibes We are staying in the main building of the Grand Floridian for a week, On my bday I have a dinner ressie at Citricos (one of the few restaurants I have never been) and after dinner I have the Grand 1 yacht booked for a Wishes cruise and have emailed the GF concierge about ordering a fabulous cake to enjoy on the yacht. That about does it, but I think it should be fabulous. ;) It's all going to be a surprise for my husband, LOL, as he is paying the tab. He asked me the other day what I want for my bday....."Don't worry", I told him. "I will think of something!"

Happy planning, You sound like an awesome aunt!

Hope you have a great birthday. My birthday is in July also. Your plans sound perfect and I wish that I could be in Disney for my birthday also. My neice is the sweetest girl she is so thoughtful and kind, so this to me is really nothing compared to what she does all the time. wish me luck and I wish you pixie dust for your birthday. thanks again..marianne :goodvibes
