Please help with my MHP costume idea... need opinions

Hi everyone. We are going to the Halloween Party in just a week and a half (!), and I am still sorting out our costumes. I decided that our family of four will go as the lands of Disneyland. Kind of a dumb idea, but I wanted some sort of theme, but I also wanted to use some existing costumes, especially since my kids don't know we are going, so I couldn't ask them for ideas. So, as of right now, my son will be Frontierland and will wear a frontiersman costume, my daughter will wear a princess dress and be Fantasyland, and my husband will wear an Obi Wan costume and be Tomorrowland. That leaves me with Adventureland. I am thinking I will wear a Hawaiian shirt and pants (keeping it cheap), but the question is, do I then wear a parrot hat in honor of the Tiki Room, or an Indiana Jones hat and whip, to tie that in as well? Any ideas? Thanks! Also, we will be wearing, "Hello, my name is..." tags so people "get" it.

I say wear the parrot hat to make it as fun as possible. And a lei. Besides, Indiana Jones is closed right now so stick with the open attraction. That sounds like a lot of fun. We go in 2 weeks from today so we're on the end of picking costumes.

You could always do khaki shorts and shirt with a safari hat and be a Jungle Cruise Skipper?

There is also New Orleans and Splash Mountain and Critter Country that you could also theme if that would be easier...

How about making some t-shirts for The Mickey Mouse Club....and just wear black shorts or pants...Make them and pack them and they will never know you have them

They are super simple to make...if you need help let me know...

I actually really like the OP's idea, I think it sounds awesome. You could go with a Jungle Cruise type hat and then maybe have a tiki bird to sit on your shoulder.

I love this idea! It is so creative! I love it when people deviate from the standard princess costumes.

I like the Jungle Cruise skipper idea with the parrot. Now I'm trying to think of how you could make yourself a fake Dole Whip to carry around, just to complete the ensemble

I forgot about the Jungle Cruise. That might be a good idea to tie in, so that I am not just the Tiki Room. Also a good point a previous poster had about Indiana Jones being down. Wearing Indiana Jones clothes might make me further upset that we don't get to ride (just when our whole family was tall enough, too! Arrrggg!). Thanks everyone! Not remotely dumb! It sounds like a super cute idea. My friends/family and I are going as 4 attractions at Paradise Pier. (We too will have our requisite princess.)

I think a parrot is great for a consistent and more obvious look. You could carry a Dole Whip too. I wouldn't personally do "My name is" tags, but you could whip up some CM-looking tags and wear them, provided they didn't look TOO Disney-like...maybe just the general oval shape, bigger, with plain printing. Hmm...maybe I should do nametags for my party too...thanks for the idea!
