We have finally put the finishing touches on our remodeling plans with the architect. I am so excited! Anyway, we are adding 3 more bedrooms and one more bath. We are also redoing each of the existing rooms in the house and starting with the bathroom upstairs. This is a full size with tub/shower combo, double sink vanity. It was built in 67 and has those small tiles halfway up the wall (lavander, none the less) and further up around the tub. We will keep the original tub (cast iron) but will be gutting the walls and vanity. I want sheetrock on all the walls and he wants to tile up the shower again. I am looking for color combo's with tile, flooring and vanity tops. I don't want vinyl on the floor. I like something light, not too dark. Please tell me about your bathroom color combo's so I can get some ideas! He will start next month while we (me and the kids) head to WDW for Thanksgiving so I really don't have a lot of time to browse. Plus, I like to know how everyone else decorates....call me nosy :teeth: . Thanks in advance.

Because I'm limited due to renting...I can't paint in bold colors...my entire house is a light beige color with white woodwork...

My bathroom has white vanity, sink, toilet, tub, surround. Oak medicine cabinet/mirror. White tiles on the floor with a black/grey speckle thing..cant describe it but it hides the dirt well :)

All I could do- was add this for color...but you can see the walls/vanity/floor..

diznygirl, those are awsome! The kids would love it (so would I), but I don't know if hubby will go for Disney sinks. I may have to come up with a plan to change his mind. The bathroom will be used by the 4 & 6 year old, could use that angle. :teeth: . Thanks!

I have a ds9 and dd11 that share a bathroom. What I did was put light colored, almost white with a touch of gray, vinyl that looks like tile on the floor. Then the counter I chose a very similar-colored cultured marble with tiny specks of color in it. Then the kids decided what theme they wanted and we added color to the room in the shower curtain and window covering. The kids chose Harry Potter so I made a curtain and window covering with HP material that was dark and light blue.
Because the basic colors of the room are so neutral it will be easy to change the theme as they get older.

I love that first Disney sink! It's cute, but doesn't look kiddy and would work with older kids, too.

I've been looking at those Kohler Disney sinks for awhile - we might actually be doing the bathroom this winter. :Pinkbounc I think the blue sink is actually quite subtle. ;) We'll get a blue Corian counter-top so it all looks one-piece with the sink. The floor is already blue tile. And the accessories are frogs - so the sink will be a surprise!

DD's bathroom is a pale lime green with white sink, etc. The towels in there are white and yellow and she has some purple things on the shelves. The boys is a work in progress. We are redoing their bathroom and I am leaning toward matching their room theme which is an outer space theme. I am thinking about going black or very dark blue on the walls and then painting stars with glow in the dark paint. If we don't do that, I am not sure what to do in there (they had Harry Potter before). Our bath is a Spiced Pumpkin color with green and dusty purple accents. We just redid that bathroom too so I don't have it very pulled together yet.

I am in the planning stages of doing my bathroom over.
I ripped the tile off the walls about 3 years ago and did the whole room in sheetrock. I then put in a tub surround and sliding glass doors.
I hate the tub surround and sliding glass doors. And the sheetrock walls are always dirty. I also have a great jacuzzi tub. But I never have time to take a bath so allI do with the tub is run bleach through it once a week to get out the black mold from the jets.
My dream bathroom would have tile from from the floor to about 4 ft with sheetrock above. I would do the entire tub with tile, including the ceiling.
I also want a tile floor. And I am getting rid of that shower door. All I do is scrub the glass and clean the mold out of the runners. Give me a shower curtain anytime, you take it down and wash it in the machine and it is good to go.
I live with 4 men though so my ideal bathroom would have a tile floor with a drain in the middle. It would be so nice to scrub the entire bathroom and just rinse it off with the shower nozzle right down the drain. Peggie

i've got tile in both the master and the "kid's" bathrooms. just want to point out that you need to keep in mind that grout on a bathroom floor gets dirty and can absorb "bathroom aromas" (sorry son i know you were still learning at the time :rotfl2: ). it also gets realy slippery after a typhoon infused bath (can you tell my kids are still young :) ?).

our neighbors put in some laminate that looked identical to our tile but was so much easier to clean...

Laminate is VERY moisture sensitive. We just put it in our kitchen, but I will need to not douse it with water when I mop.

Grout can be sealed, which would help with any staining, odors, etc. It is done after the grout has dried well. Have I ever remembered to seal our grout? Nope! :teeth: Thankfully my boys have had good aim so that hasn't been a problem.

Well, I guess we are having a change of plans with the boys bathroom. DH doesn't want to go that bold. Now we are going to go boring. The walls are going to be some neutral color. Oh well, the outerspace bathroom would have been cool. Now I have to figure out what to do with the border I bought.

We also had a vintage 1960's style bath with peach tile and a mauve tub and sink, LOL. We gutted the whole thing but left the cast iron tub in place, sheetrocked the walls and placed white tile inside the tub area. The last thing we did was to have a tub refinisher come in and reglaze the tub - white. It had to cure for 3 days but it's held up beautifully and I would do that again. Good luck, I'm sure you'll love it when it's done. :goodvibes
