Due to the state of the economy, we had put our Disney trip for spring of 2009 on the back burner. Unfortunately, my husband just got home from work and said today was his last day...they are closing the company doors. So, what would any Disser do to recover from the job-loss blues but go to Disney world. :cool1:

We are trying to do this as inexpensively as possible and since I am on spring break next week, we would like to drive down on Good Friday and check in on 4/11/09 and check out on 4/18/09.

Here is where I need your help...since we are doing this on such short notice, I need to find some lodging. We are trying to find something 3* or better for about $75 - $90 a night and close to Disney. We have two kids, ages 5 and 7 and since we won't be able to hit the parks each day, we would like nice pools. Bonus points will be awarded to whoever finds extra amenities such as shuttle service, complimentary breakfast, and a kitchenette. :worship:

Thanks a bunch for reading this and for any help you can throw my way. Maybe I will see you next week.

Michelle

I checked hotelmartusa.com and they have Comfort Suites Main Gate East for $89 which is inclusive of tax. The rooms sleep 6 and have a mini fridge and I think a microwave. You will get free deluxe continental breakfast that has beverages, pastries, bagels, toast, fruit, yogurt, cereal and make your own waffles. The pool and hot tub are pretty nice. I think they have some shuttle service there, but shuttle service from off site is not always the best. Here is a map that shows some of the other businesses in the general vicinity.

If I didn't stay here, I would go to www.homeway.com and plug in your dates to find an off site condo or home. Someone else made last minute plans doing just this a few days ago. If you stay in Davenport you will likely find something in your price range, but Kissimmee may have something too.

Good luck.

Try using Priceline...I just did and got a great hotel called the Radisson Resort Orlando-Celebration for $35 a night. Check out the hotel at Radisson.com......

You should try a condo at Windsor Hills. Its a beautiful place and you can get a condo with 3 bedrooms for that price. The resort is clean , quiet , and only 1 mile from Disney. There is a website you can go to and put in your dates and you will get a ton of offers from different owners. Some places are decorated more elaboratly than others but all of them are pretty new.

The playground and pool and very nice as well.

I will see if I can find you the link. Another bonus is they have full kitchens and washer and dryer. The rates are awesome.

EDIT: Found it! Type in your info here and you will get a ton of responses and can choose the best rate. It is possible to get a condo there for 80 a night if you look around. Good luck and have fun! http://www.windsorhillsrent.com/

Check out some of the SkyAuction rentals. I got an email that their buy it now rentals were like $199 for the week.

Also...check out the deals on travelzoo.com and bookit.com

Have a great trip! Sorry to hear about your dh's job!

Travelocity has a one bedroom condo at LIKI TIKI Village for 88.00 a night. Has great water park on site for kids. You may want to check out that option. You would have a kitchen and be able to make breakfast and keep snacks that you can take to the park.

Maybe you should stay home, save the money, and look for another job. Just saying.

Gee Dr fan welcome to the dis. The OP wasn't asking us our opinion if she should go or not she's looking for economical ideas to make it happen.

Also don't forget the Orlando Magic Card. I know they have the Fairfield Inn by Marriott for 80.00 dollars a night It has a free breakfast and nice clean.

Try calling Buena Vista Suites for their Thursday sale prices. I've never stayed there but they get great reviews on the boards. We passed there last week on the way to Disney and they had a sign on their board announcing that they are a Disney Good Neighbor Hotel. I believe they also offer a free breakfast buffet every morning.

This is a tall order for Easter Week. Demand overall is very high.

I totally get your desire to get away. But, if it were me, I'd look to see if I could line something up for late August or September rather than do an impulse trip now. There are going to be some screamingly-good deals then, including Free Dining at a Disney Value, which is going to be close to the price you are willing to pay now for just your room and includes all your food.

Booking something in that time frame also gives you some time to get a sense for how the job situation is going to settle out for DH, and if things on that front are not going well and money is getting tight, you can cancel the late summer trip. If you find out a month or two from now that you're going to need that trip money for other things, well, you can't cancel a trip you've already taken.

Do you subscribe to mousesavers.com for their newsletter and special offers? I deleted mine or I would send it to you but maybe someone else has one.

I have a feeling we won't be hearing from the OP she's probably already booked something and is busy packing since they are leaving tomorrow.
I'd love to know how she made out though???

I'm a fan of using Hotwire in orlando. My aunt got the Seralago for 33 per night. they then downgraded it from a 3 star to a 2.5 star and gave her a $25 per night credit. So she is essentially paying $8 per night!
