Please help with date!

OK my mom and I are planning our trip for sometime in the fall (I just can't do Disney in the summer!). We're looking between October and November. I'm in college so I have to try to plan where I'm not missing more than 1-2 days of class. I'm thinking Oct. 27th- Nov. 2nd..

Now my question is...is it crazy there over Halloween or just MK gets crowded for MNSSHP? And does this coincide with Jersey week?

Another option is Oct. 12th-18th. I tried looking into Nov. 10th- 15th but GF is booked and I'm assuming it's b/c of Veteran's Day!

I do love it there for the holidays, but I finish school too close to Christmas when it's really nuts!

Actually we have been twice the week before Xmas , always gone before the 21st and the crowds and weather has been wonderful!! Can't help with the other dates but HAPPY PLANNING!!

I voted the later week because of the weather. We went in September and the heat/ humidity was just brutal. I think the later you can go, without getting involved in Thanksgiving, is better in terms of the weather being a bit cooler.

I voted for the later dates. We were in WDW during the earlier dates last year - which coincided with Columbus Day weekend and it was pretty busy. Many schools take a fall break or have at least 2 days off around Columbus Day - so it seemed busier. Also it was HOT HOT HOT - 98 degrees -which was a record high. But still - it was HOT!!

And it is the EPCOT Food and Wine festival - so EPCOT was a zoo - with a lot of drunks on the weekend nights. Which if you are a college kid - maybe not such a big deal. But it was kind of annoying for us!!

I voted for the later, as well.

PP's have mentioned the weather, and I agree.

"Jersey Week" this year is the first week of Nov, but the teacher conferences only take place the Thu and Fri of that week (11/4 & 11/5). Some NJ schools may close for the whole week, but many more of them only close for that Thurs and Fri. The biggest influx will most likely be from 11/3 or 11/4 through that following weekend, so you'll avoid almost all of it.

I've never been there during Jersey Week, but am going from 10/29 through 11/7 this year. Everything I've read says that while there may be a slight bump in attendance - relatively speaking it's still one of the down times of the year and crowds should be very manageable.

My BD is Oct. 19th and I liked visiting the World around then in 2008; I was there a week later in 2009 for the ToT (10/23 - 10/25 or so) races. Crowds weren't bad at all and weather was good both times IIRC. Never been there over a holiday (Halloween) but just AFTER Thanksgiving was nice last year (was lucky enough to do two trips less than 2 months apart! )

Eric in TX- maybe I'll see you there! I went last Nov. right before Thanksgiving and the last 2 days I was there, it got so crowded! But the first few days were so empty it was great! Does Jersey week go into the following week after the 4th-5th? Even still, if I were leaving Nov.2nd, I'd be catching tail end of it

DVC Geek- my b-day is Oct. 26th! I went the week right before my birthday in 2007 (I think Oct. 17th-22nd) and it was really crowded...which leads me to...

jen2207- LOL yes, there were quite a few drunk people wandering around in broad daylight and it was annoying! I'm actually 26 going on 27, so even though I'm back in school, I'm not quite "college age" lol

Does anyone know if it's mayhem on Halloween? Or just the MK?

My vote would be for the 27th - 2nd.

I would think the week of the 12th - 18th would have more crowds due to the fact that the 12th is columbus day. I am assuming some schools have a fall break this time of year. while other people may take that week due to the fact they are given a day off that week.

If you are going the 27th - Nov 2nd. I would just avoid the MK on the Halloween. I heard that MNSSHP always is a sell out.

October is one of the more popular months now due to food and wine, halloween activities etc.
