We are thinking of doing a cash Mardi Gras trip and saving our DVC points. I've never stayed in a moderate resort but we want to try one. I was thinking about POFQ. Am I correct that it is the smallest moderate? Does it share buses with POR? Are there preferred rooms available at POFQ? We will have a scooter so are there buildings with elevators? What are your thoughts about this resort? Thanks

We're staying at POFQ in 19 days!!! I think it'll be a good resort for Marti Gras because of it's theming. If I recall corectly POFQ does not have elevators but at online check in you may be able to request a ground floor so that it wouldn't be a problem. I know that FQ and Riverside sometimes can share a bus but I've also heard where if you go at the right times the FQ bus can be quite empty.

I have stayed at CSR and CBR and both of those resorts were awesome too. We could see a little bit of Illuminations from the resort bar/patio outside at CBR and CSR is just beautiful all around. The food court at CSR is great and the RIX Lounge and QS is also fantastic! I really like CSR as an alternative option but is is VERY large. I believe it's the largest of the moderates. (Not 100% sure but I recall it being larger than CSR and POR/POFQ)

POFQ is the smallest resort and yes, it does share buses with POR. There are definitely elevators - I used an ECV myself on our trip a few weeks ago.

I have a detailed review of FQ in my TR (link in sig line) along with pics of our room if you are interested.

POFQ is my absolute favorite resort! I have stayed at all of them and POFQ is really great! POR is also great! I just stayed there a couple of weeks ago and had such a wonderful stay once again. The past two time I have stayed at POFQ/POR, we never shared busses... this time, we shared twice, with FQ being picked up first and dropped off first, so that was nice. The resort is so small, so no matter where your room is, you are close enough to everything! The rooms are nice and clean w/ queen beds. The boat to DTD is really nice! It was great to get away from the busses.. very relaxing. :joker:

Next year I decided to go with POR in a Royal Guest Room for my goddaughters first trip and we are celebrating our birthdays.. I am going to miss the small size of the resort, but I know it'll be worth it for her first visit!

POFQ is our favorite moderate resort. All buildings have elevators and none are really too far away from anything. Go to the POFQ thread and look at the resort map. You may want to request building 4 or 3 due to mobility issues.

We chose POFQ for it's small size because of my mother-in-law has a skin disease that makes her blister when she walks. I was not that excited by the pictures but let me tell you, I fell in love once i got there. It is a charming resort, very small in size with easy access to all amenities. The rooms are clean and virtually new. We stayed in building 5 on the top floor and were placed in a river view room. Gorgeous! Building 5 is the best, and i would pay to get that river view again. The buildings have elevators and had no trouble with sleeping kids in strollers. We walked over to POR on night to have dinner there. That was a real perk. The boat to DTD is really great and is a must do. The only negative is the food court on POFQ is small and choice is limited.

Am I correct that it is the smallest moderate? Yes, by far.Does it share buses with POR? Occasionally. During slower times of year, it will sometimes and especially at slow points of the day (mid afternoon for example). But even in September, the slowest time of year, I would say each resort had their own buses the majority of the time. Are there preferred rooms available at POFQ?No. Not necessary. We will have a scooter so are there buildings with elevators? Yes, all What are your thoughts about this resort? Thanks

Frankly, we prefer POR to POFQ. We actually don't like how small POFQ is because everywhere felt crowded to us. Weren't crazy about the pool, very small/packed food court, and since there is one bus stop, it was crowded. If none of these are concerns for you, it is a very nice resort aesthetically and the layout is nice. I also do love the boat to DTD.

POFQ was awesome. We stayed there before our youngest turned 3, making us family of 5. There are elevators in each building, but i think only 1, so we had to go quite a way with our stroller to get to it. We only shared a bus with POR twice- once in mid afternoon because we were the only people on the bus from our resort, and DTD one night (that was INSANE), we thought the bus would be quicker than the boat. The ONLY thing that we could say bad was the foodcourt is VERY limited- half the size of the others.

I really enjoyed our stay at POFQ!! I went with my parents and a 12 year old. My dad had an electric scooter. He had a stroke and because of his limited mobility he needs a queen bed to himself so he can turn around at night with room...anyway, the point of that is we had 2 queen beds, a roll away, and the electric scooter in the room and I was surprised at how it still didn't feel cramped. Loved that it was quiet. Loved the decor. Loved the ease to get to bused and food court.

There are elevators and we were on the floor. I'd push for a first floor room.

Been POR 3 times and POFQ once. I like theme better at POR besides food court being better and pools.Rarely use buses so I don't know. It's bigger yes but if you need to be close to the action just make the request.
Bottom line is you'll be at WDW so you can't go wrong !!

Thanks for the replies. I'm just looking for a resort were we will be close to the food court. I don't really care for huge spread out resorts and most of the moderates seem that way. I'm not concerned about the pool since it will be Feb and probably to chiily for us to swim. Does POFQ do anything special for Mardi Gras?

I didn't read the other answers but POFQ is so compact, you are not going to be far from the food court anywhere.

We were all the way over in Building 1 and I believe it was about a 5 minute walk to the food court (such as it is).

I don't know of any special events for Mardi Gras. You can find more info on both resorts at http://www.portorleans.org - have you checked there yet?
