Please help with a FE gift

I'm trying to make a picture frame for one of my FE gifts. I had this wonderful idea and now I'm afraid that I don't know how to make it work without the individual pieces of the disign. I have a wooden picture frame that is 6 3/8" X 8 3/8" that holds a 4 X 6 picture. The part that can be covered is 1 1/8" all the way around. I was wanting to put something with the Magic and Mickey or even the black and white photo I've seen with Mickey in color standing on the deck. I was wanting to the frame to also have written--Magical Memories 11.27.2010 - 12.4.2010. Any ideas???

I'm confused...are you wanting a border that you can use to cover the 1 1/8 in all the way around? Or are you wanting a 4x6 image to go inside the frame?

Sorry...I am wanting a border. Typically I would use scrapbook paper for the border but I was wanting something nicer.

Oh good...I had already started making one. I made a frame for you but the Mickey & crew image and background paper that I used are Natalie's (Donatalie)...so it is a collaboration. It isn't what you asked for but I hope it will work! I made a red and blue frame for you. If you like them...save them as I clean out my photobucket weekly.

One other thing...I made the white border in the middle slightly smaller than your dimensions so you would have some wiggle room for trimming. If I need to change it to make it even smaller...let me know which color you like.

I like the blue better than the red. Can you do me one favor? Please center Magical Memories on the top and add November 27 - December 4, 2010 on the bottom. I wasn't sure the best way to do that date so any suggestions would be appreciated.

So I'm guessing you did like the design.

I changed the blue and do like the date better the second way. Also, I changed the font to white and gave it a little shadow. I think it is easier to read. I hope you like it. It is in the same link as before. If you are still seeing the original images...hit your refresh button.

Where did you get your picture frames?

Yes I love it. It is perfect. I'm going to print it and see how it fits on the frame in case it needs to be a little bigger.

I got the frames at Michaels for $1 each. I have done this craft before but never like this. This is the big part of my FE gift for the grownups. I hope they like it.

I had some problems with the design. Things are always different once you actually get it printed.

Can you:
1. Make the border 3/8 inch larger on the inside all the way around?
2. Make the top and the left side 1/4" larger?

I'm confused as to why you want the top and left side bigger. Is the frame not even all the way around? This will throw off the wording...do you want it centered on the new dimensions. Also can I make the mickey image larger?

Can you add a little more blue all the way around that gives me more room to play with. The wording can stay where it is.

When I cut the design out last night it was off. I'm thinking that the 4 by 6 in the center is not 4 by 6 but less by 1/4 inch. I should have measured it as well. I'm sorry.

2. Is the opening centered in the middle of the frame so that all sides are evenly spaced from the opening of the frame to the outside of the frame. Another way to ask this is are they the same width (not length) from the opening to the outside?

The measurements for the frame are 6 1/2 by 8 1/2. I though it was closer to the first measurement but it seems to need to be larger.

Yes the opening is centered. Here's where my problem was. The opening is actually 3 3/4 by 5 3/4. I should have measured and not assumed the opening was 4 by 6. Duh!

Okay...I got the middle opening...but you still didn't answer the first question.
Did the overall size fit the wooden frame...or did I need to make that larger?

The overall size was just slightly smaller than the frame.

Okay...I think I fixed it. I added 1/8" to all four sides. Then I made the center white rectangle smaller than the opening you posted of 3 3/4 by 5 3/4. You will have to cut off some excess blue out of the middle, but I thought that would be easier than me trying to get the perfect size opening in the middle. Let me know how this works. Let me know if that is any better. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Because I made the inside a good bit smaller than the opening...if you need to, you can increase the size of the image and the opening in the middle should still be okay.

I put the paper on upside down so it ended up with a few creases. This was my practice one so the rest will look great. Thanks so much for your help!

I wanted to thank you for your help. I got all 23 frames finished and they look great. I was able to modge podge the paper on, use a rolling pin on them, and then put heavy law books on top of each one for 30 minutes to keep it from wrinkling at all. I then modge podged the top of the paper and sides of the frames. They look great. I hope that my friends on our cruise think so too.
