Hello all! :wave2:

I am considering renting DVC points for this October, and I'm interested in either the BCV or BWV. I don't know too much about these resorts since I haven't stayed at either and would like to know how big the units are, decor, housekeeping, etc.

This will be my little bro and sis's (12 & 14, respectively) FIRST WDW trip (may be "once in a lifetime"), and I'd love to stay DISNEY style to make it very memorable and MAGICAL princess: :wizard: . However, DH suggested getting a suite at the Wyndham Palace across from Downtown Disney (we've stayed in their suite before) since it is 800 sq. feet, has separate king bedroom, queen sofa sleeper in living room, micro, frige, 1 full bath and 1/2 bath; last year we were quoted a rate of about $140/night, excluding fees and taxes, for the same time period that we want to go this year.

Any info you can give I'd GREATLY appreciate.

BWV 1BR will be similar in size to the Wyndham Palace room, however you get a full and functional kitchen, as well as a washer and dryer

These are the numbers posted in a previous post for BWV:

Studio - 356 sq ft
1BR - 727 sq ft

the 1BR also has a jiacuzzi tub, Kingsize bed in master suite and pull out sofa bed in the living room. PLUS...your in the center of it all at the EPCOT resort area.

May not be less expensive, but may be worth it! :)

Have a magical trip :earsboy:

Last year, I lucked out and was able to rent a "standard view" 1 bedroom at BWV, for only $180 a night, Sunday through Thursday. This was a great deal! :smooth: Usually, only preferred views are available, which generally would cost about $240 a night to rent from a member. (Weekends are much more, so some folks go elsewhere for Fridays and Saturdays. We went to the Dolphin.)

I loved the Boardwalk. In fact, I just put in an offer this morning to buy a Boardwalk resale contract, and was bummed to learn I had been outbid! :( I plan to keep trying.

If you can afford it, staying at the Boardwork or Beach Club is definitely worth it. It's like being a part of Disneyworld! If you ask on the rental board here, it's possible you'll end up with a great deal like I got. Because taxes are included, the price I paid was just a bit more than the $140 plus tax and fee price you were quoted at Wyndham. (You do have to pay extra if you want daily housekeeping at DVC, though.)

If this is a once in a life time deal, then I would say stay at BCV, they have the greatest pool in all of WDW and you can walk to two of the parks, Epcot and MGM. There should be no other choice for you. BWV are a nice back up if you can not get the other. Have fun!!:D

To help with the decision, here's a link to photos of all the DVC resorts. If cost is a factor, you may also want to consider OKW and the brand new SSR which may run slightly less in a rental. OKW has plenty of space and is a beautiful resort.

I'm not sure what time of year you are planning to go. The rate you got last year at Wyndham may or may not be as good this year. Tourism is picking up in Orlando and the rock-bottom prices may be beginning to rise again.

Good luck with your decision. Keep asking questions to help you decide.

If you want to rent points for THIS October you need to get after it. They have extended the Food & Wine Fest at Epcot, beginning it early in October. That Fest makes reservations at DVC pretty hard to come by for BCV and BWV because you can walk right into Epcot for the Fest. Getting reservation may be a bit of a challenge, getting one low cost may be harder still unless you find someone with a reservation they just can't use.

The other thing to remember is the free use of the laundry. The washer/dryer is in the 1 bedroom and the studio utilizes a laundry room.

So much good advice. We will be there the last week in October.

mikesmom: Good point; I didn't even think about that. DH doesn't want to book anything just yet; I hope that if we go the DVC route that we can get SOMETHING!

PamOKW: Thank you for the great pics.

Judy S: Lucky you!

New_yawka: Thanks for the technical info!

Ooo, Thanks, Becca! I'll keep people here posted on my quest for a BWV resale!

Aesalsa, if you can't pay for anything just yet, you may want to get a hotel reservation that you can cancel. That way, you can keep looking for that special deal, without jeopardizing your vacation!

Once you're ready to book something nonrefundable, there are a couple of other bargain possibilities if the DVC isn't available. You could use www.Priceline.com or www.Hotwire.com for a low-cost deluxe hotel room (check out www.biddingfortravel.com for information on how), although you probably can't get a suite this way. You could also try to rent a deeply discounted *offsite* timeshare condo through www.skyauction.com You can go to www.tug2.net for information on which timeshares are nice. (You have to pay a small membership fee to TUG in order to access their full ratings database.)

I know there's a lot of options, but the planning is at least half the fun! All that daydreaming about great places to stay!

Thanks! I'm going to talk DH OKing my making a hotel reservation on-site, something that we feel comfortable with unless/until we decide on a certain place to stay.
