PLEASE help w/room request at GCH

We splurged and booked a 'Premium View' room at GCH for our trip.

This is a huge deal for us and we will never be able to go all out like this again.

I have spent lots of time searching and looking on the super thread, but still don't have all the answers I need so trying here.

How are the rooms with the bunks? kiddos are 8 and 11 so I think they would be nice, but I heard the bunks very small

I want a park view and since we have a 'Premium View' I am hoping for something nice.

Does anybody have any pictures they can post or suggestions of specific room numbers, room blocks, wings etc with park views and bunk beds

(if you have a suggestion and it is two queens that is great too )

Will be checking in about 6 am since we will be staying off site the night before and want to hit the parks early

I know there are no guarantees with room requests, but with a little help from this board and a little pixie dust I am hopeful

Also if you have any specific rooms you liked as far as walking distances to parks would love to hear

I definitely don't have all the answers, but the bunk beds I had years ago and they seemed normal sized to me. My son loved it!

The park view would be of California Adventure, not Disneyland, in case you didn't know! Another source for room numbers could be if you scoured through tripadvisor and yelp reviews of the hotel. Sometimes you get lucky and a reviewer will have the room number and view picture up.

When I can, I splurge for the Downtown Disney view. It's so awesome to us. When we wake up in the morning everything is just quiet, and you get to see everything before the madness begins. During the day is fun for people watching and feeling the excitement, and evening is the best, as there's always live entertainment nearby, the lights are gorgeous, and you can likely see the fireworks. You don't want to stay too far up, floor-wise, or you'll be too high above the excitement.

I hope you enjoy your room and your trip! GCH is my favorite hotel, and I find the splurge worth it!

We've had a premium view above the redwood creek challenge area (nearly above the grand entry into the park) and we loved loved loved it there because of the music they play in the area and we could sit on our verandah and just relax to the music even after the park had closed and early in the morning.
We also stayed near at the end near Soarin over Californian and that was nice too. Here is a pic of the view from there. Not very good quality though I'm afraid.

To the right of the pic is Grizzly river mountain and you could see people in their rafts and a great view of the mountain.

We had 6 children and the only one who felt too big for the trundle under the bunks was the 13 year old but he does complain a bit so a less sensitive kid probably wouldn't care lol The 12, 11, 9, 8 and 7 years olds were fine with them but the trundle beds were slighty smaller and the younger kids slept on those.

I just wanted to give you a little thought. We have only stayed at the Grand once. I was so excited because like you I had reserved a premium view. When we got to our rooms I ran excitedly and opened the curtains -- all we saw was this great big green tree blocking any view of everything. I wanted to cry, two premium rooms are a little pricey. I called down to the front desk to inquire if this was in fact a premium view room (which it wasn't) and let me tell you, while they couldn't move me that night, they did move us the next morning and more than made up for it with comp. dining at steak house 55 (they couldn't refund the extra room charge so this was there way of correcting the upcharge we paid for the view rooms).........they were very apologetic and helpful.

I tell you this for one reason, if you don't feel like you get what you pay for please don't just sit there and be disappointed, give them a chance to make it right. Now obviously this would be within reason, but if I had just let that sit and bother me without saying something I would have left with a bad taste in my mouth, instead, because I gave them a chance to make it right, we were moved to rooms with fantastic views (what we had paid for) and one of the best dinners weve had at the park. I'm still a DH girl, but only because I like the size of the rooms better but they couldn't have been more accomodating and pleasant at the Grand.

Bunk beds take up less floor space, so the room seems larger than rooms with 2 queens (although they are exactly the same size). Bunk bed rooms are spread throughout the hotel including all view types.

I want a park view and since we have a 'Premium View' I am hoping for something nice.

The Premium View should eliminate all the rooms at the front of the hotel (standard) and rooms facing the Brissa Courtyard (which I dislike)
Premium View might not guarantee a Theme Park View, but you should have a good chance.

A simple request: Ask to be located near the elevators adjacent to Napa Rose
This area allows convenient access the DCA entrance.

A Paradise Pier view (which you mentioned in another thread) can be nice, but rooms are very close to Goofy's Sky School -- which results in many issues: noise, obstructed view

Make it clear to the registration CM you made a special effort to check in early, but you are willing to wait all day for a better view (room should be ready by 3PM).
Also, let the CM know if you are willing to give up bunk beds for a better view.

Park view is by far the most sought after...and appropriately the most expensive.

I personally and know quite a few other that do NOT like the DTD view as the rooms can be much more noisy with the music and hustle of DTD. They can also be a hike from the main lobby...although there is a "secret" entrance that will drop you right into DTD...and by secret I mean fire exit that you can not reenter through.

...but that is just my personal preference as I like quiet and close proximity over everything else.

I don't think I would be too into DTD either.

I have been looking at the maps. Are rooms X337-X335 adjacent to the Napa Rose? These rooms look like would have a nice view of the GRR, correct?

Sounds like the Paradise Pier may not be the best option due to Goofy's

Rooms x333-x359 are the best, IMO. Those are the park view rooms. The rooms opposite are also very nice and are also premium view, but they look out on the pool. I like both views! Theme park is nice but with the growth of the trees, you frequently won't see a whole lot.

As nonsuch and others have said, that wing is very very handy as you have a special elevator bank that comes out into its own little lobby near Napa Rose. It gives you proximity to the main elevator bank as well, so you can get into DTD, the lobby, the pool, the restaurants, and DCA very easily and quickly.

I personally dislike (very much!) anything in the distant wings, including DTD views, due to the hike it entails. I don't mind the Brisa Courtyard view, as I enjoy the monorail, but I mainly like it because you're not looking out on a roof or parking lot.

We had a bunk bed room at GCH in 2010. They were normal twin bed size. My husband slept on the trundle the first night (at request of my daughter), and fit fine on it. I'd post a pic, but I think he'd kill me!

The next night she was brave enough to sleep in the top bunk and loved it! She's keeping her fingers crossed for a bunk bed on our upcoming trip.
