Please Help! VMK won't work... :( (this isn't about the usual crashing)

Hi, I just got a new computer, and all the security and stuff was set up, and now, horror or horrors- I can't get into vmk! Everything loads as usual but then it says 'Connection Failed: Can not connect to VMK server. Check your firewall/internet security settings.' Can anyone tell me how I fix this problem? I'm hoping one of you lovely smart people here can tell me what I have to do. Thanks!

Edit: Ok I found this on the site:

Firewalls: If you have a firewall running on your computer or network, make sure you have specific ports opened on it, so that you may use VMK. Also check which programs are blocked from accessing the internet to make sure you haven't denied access to VMK.

I'm still completely in the dark as to what ports need to be opened and how I open them and if it's safe and how to open them only to vmk and blaahhhhh.... x___x

Thank you! I'm running Norton Internet Security, Norton Anti-Virus, and I think Window XP has a built in firewall or something like that.

It is my understanding that you should NOT run Nortons Firewall and Windows Firewalls together turn off Windows...I am sure someone will correct me if that is wrong.


Now click on your yellow Nortons icon on your taskbar...the one for internet security or nortons firewall.

Click on personall firewall and then configure

then programs then add copy and paste VMK addy there to allow

I tried the Norton Internet Security thing, but it didn't seem to work. I know the game works on the administrator account on my computer, but it doesn't work on the limited accounts. Does it have something to do with that? Last computer we also had accounts and vmk worked on all of them; I'm not sure what's changed.

I would say you have to set up each account...but that is just a guess.

Just add all DISNEY addys

Doesn't the firewall cover all the accounts though? I couldn't see a place where you changed what account the settings of the firewall were for. Also the login disney addy wouldn't work for some reason... and I don't know- the url showed up as a program an d I'm not really sure it was the right thing. Could it be something with parental control or not with norton?
