Hello everyone :)

This august my family and I (Me 20, my brother 17, and my mom) will be going to disney and we have been jumping back and forth as to where to stay!! POP or PORFQ?

we like POP because we were able to book preferred pool view rooms
but we would be able to reserve preferred rooms in POFQ as well...

What do you guys think? some pros or cons to each? :)

thank you!

My vote goes to POFQ. Nice and quiet, pretty grounds, good bus system (though there ARE several stops), and a hot tub.

Pop is good, too, but definitely more "Disney" - if you want a resort that's more "welcome to your Disney vacation!!!!!!!" then stay at Pop.

There are no preferred rooms at POFQ because everything is close to the main building.

That being said, if I stayed at the values, Pop would be my fav.

But if yoy could stay in a mod, do POFQ or POR; it has some wonderful amentities like the option to go to DTD.

I have stayed at each resort twice and I would choose POFQ any day! Both have food courts but POFQ had better food. I feel like the bus service was better (quicker) at POFQ but the thing that I enjoy most is the bigger rooms. I feel like there is so much more space in POFQ. I must admit that I do like the theme of POFQ better than POP too (but that is just a personal bias) :rotfl: The conveinance of being able to hop on a boat to DTD is an added bonus that I always take advantage of!

I've never stayed at POP so no advice on that one but have checked it out.
POFQ is so compact that any room is pretty close to the pool plus you can walk over to POR and use their pools (they are sister resorts so you are not pool hopping)

They do share buses with POR in non-peak times. But POFQ is the 1st on and 1st off (expect for the bus back from DTD:confused3). However we always take the boat. The rooms have just been redone in the last year and have queen sized beds :yay:

As the PP said if you want a resort that says "I'm at Disney" stay at POP

I would do POFQ! I've done both and busses are better at POFQ. ALso the boat to DTD is very nice and convenient!

Will you be in the park the majority of the time? If so, then POP! I never stayed at POFQ but have stayed at POR and I just didn't notice that much of a difference in the amount of space. I would rather save my money :)

I would only stay at Pop if it were some sort of dirt cheap value season deal. For a value, it is pretty good, but, especially when everyone in the group is older, the theme of POFQ just can't be beat! I think it is worth the additional cost to get a smaller resort, more dependable bus service, proximity to DTD, a less-crowded food court and nicer rooms.

Not to get too personal, but you haven't mentioned your sleeping arrangements.. In both resorts you'll have two queen beds. Will you be bringing an air mattress or sleeping in the same beds? Different rooms?

Pop has double beds and POFQ has newly refurbished rooms with queen beds although both resorts also offer a king bed option instead. Like the fact that you can walk to POR from POFQ and therefore you also have the option of more choice, including loads more pools and other food options. My choice is def POFQ.:)

We have stayed at both.

If you will be spending the majority of the time in the Parks, want a fun, bright, over-the-top-Disney-feel resort and are on a budget, I would pick POP. The rooms are small, but super clean..the food court is fantastic, CM's are wonderful and we have found the bus service to be very good. For your best chance at a quiet stay, I would recommend a non-pool facing room (preferably one on the top floor, facing the lake). :)

If you will spend more time in the room and want a more peaceful, laid back kind of resort, I would choose POFQ. The rooms are larger and the grounds are more compact. The resort has a more peaceful feel too it..not a lot of Disney type theming. The foodcourt was just *meh* for us but the boat ride to DTD was a nice perk.

:)

I'd take POFQ or POR over Pop any day. The rooms are beautiful at POFQ, Queen beds, double sinks, I did notice a difference in room size, grounds & theming are lovely, much quieter resort, less crowded. Bus lines aren't nearly as long leaving the park for the mods as the values have. Moderate resort bus stops are covered & have benches so you're not standing out waiting in the rain or -hot sun in summer.
Boat to DTD, evening entertainment in the lounge, marina, Horse & carriage rides.

We recently booked our first onsite trip and went with POR for various reasons...we were open to value, mod, or deluxe.

Part of the reason for us was refurbed rooms and Free dining plan. If free dining will be offered during your trip and you want the regular as opposed to the quick service...then a mod might be for you too.

Hi
I've always loved Pop, but just got back and now since the rooms are renovated, the beds are so hard, they're horrible to sleep on. If you like a really very firm bed, then you should be ok. We changed resorts. I feel bad that I won't stay at Pop again, but POFQ is really nice. Beautiful grounds, boat to DTD and now the renovated rooms. (I hope their beds don't feel like a slab of cement). I'd like to stay there next time. Have a great trip!!

I just returned from POFQ and LOVED the newly refurbished rooms. I'd stay there in a heartbeat. Also love the fact that POFQ is the smallest of all the Disney resorts.

Team Pop for life! I'm the only member of this team so far, but anyways Pop Century was my first and 2nd Disney resort I stayed in and I prefer it.

given that you're basically 3 adults i'd say consider pofq. the resort is small so you don't really need to spend the money for a preferred room (imo). no matter where you're at you're still close to everything. also all the beds are queen size here but at pop they're doubles and the resort is huge. you could be in a preferred room and still have quite a walk to everything. either way you won't be disappointed. any disney trip is a good trip and staying on site lets you just immerse into your vacation like no other.

We were going back and forth in our decision between the two hotels too for our trip next year but I think we've settled on POFQ because for me it boils down to the coffee maker and fridge. We'll be doing some breakfasts in our room and I can't drink the rot gut that they try and pass off for coffee at Disney so having those at POFQ is what tipped the scales.

:surfweb:

Plus we've done Pop and deluxes (AK and WL) so I wanted to experience a moderate.
