Please help struggling with transport

Hi everyone.
Myself and family are traveling to Florida in May we are staying at highlands reserve and really really need some help with transport the only person eligible to drive really doesn't want to and hiring a m vehicle for 8 is proving rather expensive. I am trying to find out if they are any bus routes close to Disney that can connect us to the Disney transport that's included with our park passes. Or even the cost of taxis. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gosh, that's a tough one. Taxis will be expensive so I would try to encourage the only eligible person to drive to do so. Hopefully someone local to the area has a option.

How many days are you going to WDW? How are you getting to your house (it is a house right? I had to look it up)?

I guess if you are going to have to take a taxi service, price out each way (airport, parks, grocery store) with the price of where you are staying and then price out a Disney hotel or even a non-Disney hotel with bus service and see which is more cost effective.

I don't know where highlands reserve is but suggest you go online and find Orlando bus routes. They are typically available online in major cities. There should be some bus route that takes you close to Disney Springs where you can catch Disney busses to all parks. You may spend a lot of time getting back and forth though. A taxi or uber would probably be a min of 10 up to 25 per trip depending on how far. Plus you would need either two taxis or a large van which always costs more.

You can take the bus, but it's going to take you 2 hours to get to MK:

You can look up taxi fare at taxifarefinder.com Be prepared for it to cost quite a bit more than renting a car. You'll need 2 vehicles, since taxi vans can only carry 7 passengers.

Staying offsite without a car is rarely a good idea.

You cannot get a bus to any park directly from Disney Springs, those buses go to resorts only.

Taxi fare is going to be way more than $25 per vehicle each way. Probably at least double that.

Highlands Reserve is on Hwy 27 .... Between Hwy192 West & Hwy I-4

A very good Golf Resort & right next to Publix ( Grocery Store ) & Eating places ......... good pool .

Well worth it. Hampton Lakes Westridge & Solana are near.

You will need a car so the reluctant driver will have to drive.

Easy for a USA person BUT strange to start with for a U.K. person Or Irish like me.

You will have an automatic car ..... very easy to drive after 5 min. .... Wrong side of road driving ?

just follow the car in front .... takes a few min. to get used to it .

The Person Will Enjoy the driving .... yes they will

There is freedom with your own car to do other things besides Disney. ( Eating out & travel to Explore ..... Airboat rides etc )

According to the UberEstimate web site, an Uber for up to 4 passengers would cost $15-$20 each way. That could be higher at times due to surge pricing.

You will waste huge amounts of time just traveling if you use only public transportation. As was said, the one driver will just have to drive if you don't want to spend the money on taxis or Uber.

If Vikki is coming from out of the country, I agree.

If I can get used to driving in Ireland in a stickshift car, anyone can get used to driving in America with an Automatic. The roads around WDW are good and have good signage. With 7 others in the car, you have at least one person who can navigate. If there is an issue of driving on the other side of the road, someone can be put in charge of making sure the driver stays on the correct side. (I strongly recommend that words are used for this, and not gasps or other sounds that do nothing but irritate the driver, LOL)

If renting a car in a different country, I wouldn't decline all insurance without really thinking about it.

We got the insurance in Ireland; Woodview, are you sure your speed limit signs aren't just a big prank being pulled on Americans? My gosh you have some high speed limits for some tiny roads with stone walls on either side...

Even if your insurance covers damage to the car, nothing but the added insurance covers the fee for the lost rental time while they fix the car. As far as I know.

I would highly recommend you look into staying onsite if the one driver doesn't want to drive. Figuring out transportation is going to be at worst, very time consuming and at best, very expensive. You might actually do better money-wise staying in 2 rooms in a value resort rather than paying Uber or cab fare every day. That's just my opinion.

It is a very easy drive from Highland to any park. Should be no more than 30 minute ride. Road signs are highly visible to where you are trying to get too. Or maybe rethink the trip and stay at a Disney resort. Buy the time you waste using a bus (up to 3 hours each way to go to a park-6 hrs of your day spent riding a bus) or the money you waste on the two cabs you will need to get some where you could have stayed onsite. Plus you will have to shell out money to get to and from the airport plus tip the driver.

Please note that you have to pay a minimum of 2hr so it will be $65X2 hrs = $130 each way to a park ($260 roundtrip) plus tip. For a trip that should only take you 30 minutes to drive.
