I've been trying to talk to my mother in law into buying dvc since BLT came on sale. Now she is seeing the price hike on 10/4 & suddenly wants to buy. Have we missed all the good deals though? help? I looked this all over extensively but forgot everything I've learned since then and am lost all over again. Should we fly down for a weekend to talk to someone. There're really only this weekend & next left & everyone's in panic mode. I'm afraid our decision is going to be rushed now. lol. jeez.

what do you guys think? TIA!

Have you taken a tour? Do you have a guide?

If you have not taken the tour, don't buy. Would you buy a house without seeing it?

I would stop the panic over the price increase. Take your time. they will raise prices and then kick in incentives. You can always buy from "The Timeshare Store" if price is your biggest issue.

Sounds like your heart is set on BLT (nice choice). At least you you have decided that. But go see it first. If you plan on staying is studios, you may want to look at them. Some people think they are small. Every DVC has advantages and BLT's are: #1 Location, #2 Views, #3, Monorail.

If you have to buy today, I am sure that DVC can accomidate you, just give them a call. I would never panic over price increases though. When first bought, they held the price for us for a couple weeks after. Think things through and talk to DVC. Pick up the phone.

DVCNews has a listing of the current promotions. Even though the base price will be going up, there most likely will be some type of incentive after that happens. If you haven't spoken with anyone at DVC yet, you might want to to get the ball rolling. If nothing else, have them send you out the promotional DVD so that your family can learn more about it all. I'll send you a PM with some additional information. Good luck in your research!

I believe that you really need to stay at the resort that you plan to buy before you buy it. Sometimes the marketing hype and things that you read on the Internet can paint a much different picture than what you experience when you stay there.

We own at BLT and four other resorts and to be honest it is our least favorite. The location is excellent if the MK is your favorite resort but the views are a mixed bag. The high price and high point requirement makes BLT a premium resort but everything is located at the Contemporary, Front Desk, Valets, Bell Services, Restaurants, and Transportation.

PP all offer great advice.

In the event that you are certain you want BLT and do not need to see it, you could also try signing up for the GCV web cast. I'm not sure if they will offer much for BLT, but it wouldn't hurt to watch if you have an hour or so. Afterward, you should be able to call and talk to Disney about a purchase.

In order to view the event, you must register.

We watched the BLT web cast and they had some pretty nice incentives back in June. After that, we went to the Chicago Doorway to Dreams and toured the models. After seeing them, we were sold on the resort and sent back our contract shortly after that.

Good luck!

If you want and are interested in BLT, you should contact a guide and discuss it. The incentives right now are not as good as they have been but there is always a chance things will be better in the future.

If you decide that you want to buy, you might want to start the process right before the price change. If new incentives come out that lower the price, you can always contact your guide and ask that they re-do the deal if you have not closed or are still within the rescind period (10 days after you sign).

We did that in the winter when we bought. Before our contract closed, the incentives changed and were better. I called my guide and without issue, he had the original contract pulled and then re-wrote them with the better deal.

Good luck!

I would not purchase BLT over the phone, we almost did. We went to visit BLT right before closing on it and I'm so glad we did. I did not like it at all, it did not have that at home Disney feel that you want when you arrive. Even the salesman said to me BLT is "not his bag" he would never buy it. I would compare it to an apartment building in Manhatten. Please go and visit before you purchase. You can always purchase resale at much better prices.

I don't know that you need to stay there before you buy but I agree with at least touring it thoroughly in person and discussing all of your options in detail. :goodvibes
