Trying to make a decision for an upcoming trip to DL. Even though we only live an hour away from DL, every few years we like to stay at the hotel so our girls can enjoy the pool & amenities.

We can either stay at the DLH with a premiere view or top floor concierge at PPH with DCA view? I talked to a very nice cast member who basically said (in a round about way) that we can go any pool we want, especially being concierge. We've only stayed at the PP once and we weren't impressed, but it was about 8 years ago. I would think concierge would make it a better experience.

Any thoughts??? Thanks!

If it were my family, we'd all choose PPH w/concierge and a DCA view room. Hands down.

I'd do the DLH view. You most likely will be able to see the fireworks, if you don't want to be in the parks late enough for them each night. And, you *might* be able to see tidbits of the WOC colored water spray parts.

Aw man....the CM was wrong. I'm sorry. Pool hopping used to be allowed (before '07 at the very latest), but not anymore, not unless your hotel's pool is completely closed and they give specific permission for guests to use another hotel's pool.

I like PPH so I would go with them, but if you didn't like the hotel then maybe DLH without the extra food and drink (water! our most hydrated trip was the one time we stayed concierge level at DLH!) would be best.

They don't allow pool hopping. However, you could "get away" with it at the Paradise Pier, as that hotel doesn't require roomkey access to get in the gate. Not sure there's a big reason WHY do to it, other than to let kids try out the slide there, because the monorail slides look a little more impressive, and the pool there is not as impressive.

Thats a tough call to make. I have only stayed at the DLH and have to tell you the view of the fireworks is amazing at night. However concierge takes your vacation to a whole other level, I would go with the concierge and spoil yourselves!

No!!!! I told the CM that the whole reason we wanted to stay at the DLH was for their pool. She then went on to tell me that they're not supposed to tell us we can use the other pools, but she told me that people do it all the time and it shouldn't be a problem. Then she went on to add "especially if you're in concierge". She said they are known to make things happen. I really wish she wouldn't have said that if it's not true. :(

I didn't like PP when I stayed there last, but this is when it was the Pacific Hotel I think. I'm sure it's changed since then. Plus the concierge is a HUGE incentive. Does anyone know if the pool at PP has a slide? I have an 8yo, a timid 6yo, and my youngest just turned 3, so the monorail pool at DLH may be a little much for them.

I guess what it all boils down to is the pool & light up headboards at DLH vs. top floor view rm w/ concierge at PP. I have to figure out which my girls would like more...

We have done concierge stays many times and have never had the option to pool hop, even when staying GCH concierge. You need room keys at GCH and DLH, so you would have to ask the concierge host for keys to those pools if it actually were an option.

Given your choices, I would stay PPH concierge. The slide at PP is large and spills into a shallow area, so your 8yo and 6yo should have no problem at all. With concierge service at PPH, you will receive Mickey head rice krispy treats the first night and Disney chocolate coins with turn down. It is nice to grab a quick breakfast before going to the parks and snacks and drinks when we are spending time at the pool. Be sure to get chocolate dipped strawberries from the lounge in the evenings. If cost is equal, I would put more value on the offerings from the lounge than I would the light up headboards and DLH pool, but that is just my opinion.

I had the same dilema when getting ready for our first DLR trip. I could get PPH concierge with a theme park view for the same amount as a renovated room at DLH. I loved the look of the DLH rooms! We decided to go with PPH.

We had a great stay at PPH. The view from the room was incredible. We could see all of DCA, Space Mountain, and the Mattherhorn. At night we would watch the later WOC. You can only see the fountains changing colors but it is still very neat. The concierge lounge was nice. Never very crowded. We had breakfast every morning. We were given bottled water for the parks. We would always stop in for a drink and a quick snack on our way to our room. One night we were there for the cocktail hour and I enjoyed some wine and my husband had a beer or two. The chocolate covered strawberries were delicious! We also got Mickey head rice krispie treats our first night in the room and chocolate coins every other night. We were there the last week in June.

We would cut through the GC to get to the parks and the walk was quick.

We did not use the pool at all. We had come to Disneyland after 5 days at a resort in the San Diego area and were pretty much pooled out. You can watch the fireworks from the pool area.

Have a great trip!

We're sold on concierge @ PP! We've stayed at the DLH the last few times, so I think the PP will be a nice change, especially with concierge. As a pp said, concierge will take our stay to a whole new level. I also like the fact that we'll be on the top floor with a DCA view. The girls will think that's super cool! Plus, I think the pool & slide @ PP will be more than enough fun for my girls because they're still young. And since we're planning on staying a full day at the hotel, we'll get to fully take advantage all that concierge has to offer.

Thanks again for helping me make my decision! :)
