I am in tears. We are supposed to arrive in 16 hours and they JUST CANCELLED our flight due to snow!!! We have one night booked with one night dining plan and there's no way to get there tomorrow at all.... What now? What happens? Is there anything anyone could do for me? I'm sick to my stomach and can't even believe they have such short notice....

Oh no. :( I'm so sorry to hear that.

Did you buy travel insurance?

I would give Disney a call and let them know what's happened and see what [if anything] they're able to help with.

Best of luck!

Try not to completely panic. I have heard that when it is a major storm like this, they try to help out as much as they can.

All you can do is call in the morning and see if there is anything they can do to help.

Good luck!

This happened to us last year. We were supposed to land by 11am , had CRT reservations for 5pm, plus chef mickeys at 8am next day. We were able to get MS, they canceled our reservations, made sure we didn't get charged, and even put our points for our room for 2 days back into our account. Cant say enough for what they did and how they helped.
Call as soon as you can, don't be demanding, but let them know its out of your control.
Best of luck

This happened to me, too, during "Snowmageddon" a few years back--and after MS was closed to boot.

I don't remember now whether I called CRO (regular Disney booking) or the resort itself...but it was after MS was closed the night before I was to arrive (early the next morning).

Disney couldn't have been nicer. They took note of my canceled flight and released the room (I suspect there were/are people at Disney who can't get out just like you can't get in, so they can probably use(d) the room)...and promised to tell MS, although I also had to call MS myself when it opened the next day.

They did give me back my points (although in holding)--

Good luck...hope you get there, even if late. W/Snowmageddon, our whole trip wound up canceled (and each call to Disney resulted in similar super service, although it was only that first night that it happened when I couldn't call MS)--let us know, ok?

What city are you flying from? Can you drive to another city?

Regarding the short notice, they can't control the weather to give you more notice. Better than cancelling when you are sitting in the airport.

I would cancel any dining reservations you have before midnight so that you don't get charged.

Oh guys. What a nightmare. We were supposed to fly out of New York. There were so many flights that are affected that it took three phone calls and 5 hours to get us out there by Sunday night (hopefully). We had to pay for upgrades seats on both flights to even get those. I haven't even slept. I called disney and the cm told me she had several calls about this issue but there was nothing she could do for me bc i booked with my DVC. She was able to cancel all my dining reservations so I didn't get charged. I did have a dining plan that we won't be able to use. Losing 2 days of a DVC stay, ADRs, fastpasses is just beyond upsetting after planning for months. So so bummed.

I was stuck in a Buffalo hotel once due to blizzard conditions and called MS. They gave me my points back into holding. I strongly urge you to call MS. They will help.

thanks guys... have been trying to call since 9 am on the dot and it just keeps ringing and ringing and ringing....so so weird...never had this happen before.

So sorry to hear about your flight. I'm leaving out of JFK today, flight got pushed back an hour but it's still going out. Hope it works out for you.

This doesn't help now but watch weather closely. When you see storm predictions like this one, get out in front of it. Don't wait for them to cancel you and decide what flight to put you on . Call a few days before, switch to a flight YOU want. They will always waive all fees. We usually just try to get out the day ahead of the storm and then we aren't dealing with the aftermath of getting people onto flights that had been cancelled.

Yeah it's a real nightmare. This happened to us a couple of years ago. We are in Boston and our flight was cancelled right after Christmas. We were able to get another flight a day later, but we did lose our points. Well, actually they let us put them in hold put it was only for a couple of months and we were not able to use them. This is one of the bad things about living in the northeast and traveling during the winter. You just have to be aware that it can happen and not let it ruin your entire vacation. We now try to leave a day earlier and stay at a value for the night before checking into a DVC resorts with our points. Keep trying to call, get another flight and just enjoy your vacation.

Be happy that you are better off then we are. We now have over 30 inches and it is still snowing!!

Good Luck and Enjoy your vacation whenever you get there!!

I hope things work out. I live in Buffalo NY and I would never travel (fly) in the winter without Trip Insurance. Of course the one time our travel got wrecked for weather it was October 11th and I didn't have the insurance.
