(I posted about this matter a few weeks ago)

We had sent final payment to secure our pool home rental to the vrbo.com property owner on August 19. The owner had previously written that she would send further information about the property (regarding check-in, check-out, and other details) upon receipt of final payment. So far, I have not heard from this owner at all. I have sent three e-mails (well, four including the one I have just sent) requesting a response, including confirmation that she has received my monies sent via PayPal. Nothing.

I am really getting upset now; we are less than sixty days from our upcoming Florida vacation. The owner has our money and we have nothing.

Please help--What should I do now?

BTW, the owner is a UK resident, and I do have (from vrbo) two UK phone numbers for the owner. The thing is, I really do not know how to make a call to another country, nor do I know what I should say tactfully without falling apart over the phone...

What do you think I should do?

Dialling international, you need to dial 011, then the country code (UK's country code is 44), then the telephone number.

http://extracheapphonecard.com/bhaibhai/countryCode.jsp provides a list of country codes. Good luck.

and sending pixie dust... :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

This is every renters worst nightmare :sad2: :sad2: I wish some owners would understand that periodically contacting your upcoming renters (especially when they've booked a long ways out) would go an awful long way to alleviating stress, and the "will they take my $$ and run" feeling...

I wish this one would just contact you JrsyDebs!!

Can paypal verify for you that the money has been transferred, JrsyDebs? If it hasn't gone through to the owner yet, I would stop payment, and arrange for another house...

Please let us know what happens...and thanks Jann, for helping out:)

Go under your own account...click on your paypal history. From there you can track the status of your transactions.

Sending Pixie Dust your way!!!

I am also having a bit of the same problem. I sent a homeowner in the UK $150 deposit (to a management co.) for a pool home in Indian Creek for Nov. I didnt have great communication with them at first, but they got on the ball and booked the reservation. There is supposed to be a management co. in Florida, but when I called information to get the phone number they said there is no listing for them. The management company is Floridays Management Enterprises, has anyone heard of them? I emailed the owners yesterday telling them that I had not received any email from them reminding me that final payment is coming due. They had stated in the booking form that at 12 weeks out we would get a reminder email and we are at 10 weeks out now. I still have not heard anything from them. I dont know if I should call them or what. I am so nervous now. Anyone with any info. would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Jan,
I also pm'd you a message to see if you can help me. Thanks, Missy

JrsyDebs, Did everything turn out ok? I hope so..Very nice of Jannyanns to help out too...

I hope things have worked out for everyone.

Just wanted to add that we also did not receive detailed property info until about 10 days beofre our trip. The owner explained this was for security reasons. It does seem odd to experienced DISers who are used to planning things months in advance but it worked out fine for us.

Would love to hear if things worked out ok. I’d hate to think anyone here was getting ripped off.

The homeowner we chose, http://www.sjsvillas.com also from the UK called me upon my follow-up inquiry (or as they say enquiry ;) ) making me feel very good about them. They were quick to send me the home’s address so we could look it up on a map for location.

Their availability calendar was updated the day they received our deposit, another plus in the confidence column. We were then emailed a package of info which included details on what else would happen and when.

If this turns out to be half as great as we think it will, we will never stay in a hotel room again at WDW!

I need to say a big THANK YOU to Jan, for helping me out with contact information. My situation is resolved, I hope. I am feeling much better about it. I was able to get in contact with the management company which they obviously run out of their home. She was able to put my concerns to ease and I spoke with a co owner of the home in the UK. Evidently the homeowners had changed some things like the timing of the final payment reminder, and I had papers saying it would be 12 weeks out, but they say 10. I am hoping that all goes well with this venture. I will post about it once we return. We still have a couple of months to go before we leave. :flower:
I am praying for a smooth vacation with NO bumps in the road!! :wave2:

I'm glad these are working out for you. We've rented multiple times in the past w/ nothing but wonderful expierence's. We have found it common to not be given the details of the houses locale (other than subdivision) and that until the last few days. However, we've always have had excellent communication the entire process from those we've rented from.
