HI ....i'm brand new to the boards, have been lurking, but first ever post. My question is...how can i get my princess Chrissy to marry me at the world? She wants a lame jersey wedding with close family and friends. I love disney and want her to marry me there. ANy ideas to convince her, cause mine arent working righ tnow. Its hopefully my only wedding, and i want it to be right. I know you all know where i'm coming from.. Please help. thanks!

Have you showed her this site and peoples trip reports?

I always wanted a DFTW but my family didn't want me to get married in the states and we even booked a wedding in England. After they saw how much stress we were getting and how unhappy I was they finally agreed to come to disney.

I depends what she wants I never wanted a big white church wedding with hundreds of family there that we only talk to at weddings. But I did want to be a princess on our special day and where else can you feel like a true princess and have a fairy-tale castle in your wedding photos.

The line 'I want to be a princess' is what won my dad over in the end. You wouldn't believe I will be 28 when we get married next year :rotfl2:

hiya and welcome to the boards!!
heres a link to disney's official weddings site, it'll give you loads of info and you can choose whether to have an escape(up to 18 guests) or a wishes (any amount of guests). http://www.disneyweddings.go.com/site/gate/index.jsp
from what i've heard on here, jersey weddings can be really expensive, so if you get loads of info from here and from disney, you'll probably find that you can have the big disney wedding with all the extras for about the same price as you'd be back home
hope this helps a little bit, feel free to ask any other questions, we're all very helpful and welcoming on here

Tell her she can have that small friends and family wedding and get to spend more time with them in the happiest place on earth! I always wanted a quiet small wedding and we are still having it just instead of near home (also in NJ) we are going to be in beautiful Disney World

There's this food network episode where they highlight Disney fairytale weddings.
This one: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show_sp/episode/0,,FOOD_9994_32807,00.html

Anyways, watching this episode is what won me over!

I called to book my date yesterday and the planner asked me how I became intersted in a fairytale wedding and I told him about the episode.
He laughed and told me that that episode has brought them the most brides. They always get hundreds of calls after it airs!

So I think trying to get your hands on that episode would help!

Also, looking at all the cool unique disney pictures helps too.

Thanks guys for your quick responses. She is a big disney fan as well, but wants to make sure all her friends and big family are there, but she knows that they wont all make it because they are all in the NY/NJ area, and some are crippled. Maybe i can hyponitze her!:rotfl2:

You can do both!
Wedding at disney and then at home reception later!

We're doing a wedding at Disney with an at-home reception too. Also, you might be surprised who will end up coming. We thought we would only have around 35-40 guests, but are now up to almost 70 people that want to come down for the big day. As my DFTW coordinator has said to me many times once you start planning a Disney wedding you will be surprised who will want to be added to the guest list. For instance my great-aunt who is 83 (who I never thought would want to make the trip) was so excited she made a dress to wear especially for our wedding.

You could do the big NJ wedding and then do a "vow renewal" at Disney for your honeymoon.

That way you get both!!!

Well now i think the wedding is completly off:scared:

I spent all weekend hounding her about the benefits of us getting married in the greatest place on earth. She suddenly screamed and threw a fork at me and told me to the out (but using language that is not to be used on here). So...as of now, there is no disney wedding, no jersey wedding. No nothing!

Well...thanks everybody for their input. I may have to go to disney solo, to get my mind off things. Mr. Toad here i come!

oh god, i hope you guys get it sorted out, best of luck x

Oh I'm so sorry! I'm sure she wouldn't explode like that just over the weddng.
There must have been some nderlying stressors.
I hope you guys can figure it out! Counseling maybe?

Hi ya'll.....just wanted to update you all on my situation....its been 7 years since my last post, and not too much has changed. My dear princess chrissy found a new man (acutally she has been dating a few), but i still get to hang out with her! They are nice to me at least. My dream wedding never happened. I still get an occassional fork to the face, but sometimes you just have to deal with it.

On a positive note, her boyfriend of the last 4 years did let me take her on a trip to Disney. IT was very magical. She made me sleep in the bathtub one night ugh! It was very expensive but worth every penny. I wanted to thank you all for your support. I really found a true family here and i am forever grateful. :cool1::love:
