Having just posted on the Restaurant Forum, and having being convinced that I really should have ADRs for my visit in October, I now need help! Where do I start. I have a sort of itinerary (which I had considered to be variable, but won't seem so if I have bookings for dinner), so I know theoretically which park I will be in on what day. So what now? How do I choose where to book, or do you think I've left it so late there won't be a choice, and who do I ring? HELP!!!!!!

Hi

This is the part of the planning that I like best. What we do is look at the menus on Deb Wills site and pick what menu we would like - her site is: http://allears.net/

It does help if the restaurant is in the park that you'll be at or at one of the resort hotels.

Our favs are:

Epcot
Le Cellier
Chefs de France
Coral Reef

MK
Narcoosees (Floridian Hotel)
Cinderella Palace
Crystal Palace ( we have character breakfast)

Hollywood Studios
Mama Melrose
SciFi Diner

Good luck and have fun planning
Tina

To make ADR's you need to call the Disney Dining Line - 001 407 939 3463 (you can get cheap call providers so its cost 1p a min - google it or hopefully someone else will post one :) )

I would suggest looking at the menus as well but as you are quite late in booking some places might not be available. For our last minute April trip I got Mama Melrose, Maya Grill (at CSR), LTT, and Naacoossees all at only a couple of weeks notice. We could not get Coral Reef, California Grill or Garden Grill.

Look at resort restaurants as these are less popular and although a bit more difficult to get to by WDW transportation do allow more flexiblity after you have eaten as to were you want to go.

Other things to consider - if you are on the DDP you really need to make an ADR for all your TS credits. If you have a car are you going to US etc and do you want to eat offsite? If you don't have the DDP it is cheaper to eat offsite and can be less restrictive.

Have fun - I am already thinking about our next trip as we are taking my inlaws and they are picky eaters - and picky adult eaters take more planning than kids!!

adding my comments to the poster's list above:

Epcot
Le Cellier agree
Chefs de France agree
Coral Reef agree

MK
Narcoosees (Grand Floridian Hotel) i prefer Citricos at the GF, but narcoosees is also good

Cinderella Palace - i disagree - cinderella's palace has terrible food

Crystal Palace ( we have character breakfast) - i agree - breakfast, lunch and dinner are good here

i would add to this list, if you're interested in characters, in addition to the Crystal Palace inside the MK, Chef Mickeys in the contemporary is also very good for character meals (breakfast and dinner)

Hollywood Studios
Mama Melrose - i've never eaten here so i don't know
SciFi Diner - food is bad, but it's sort of a fun place to eat. Although for strange experiences, i prefer the 50's prime time cafe.

Hi there,
We're on the DDP as well, though we booked all ours back in May. We learned our lesson on our last trip when we waited until we got there before booking

We like:
Character meals: Cape may Cafe (Yacht & Beach Club) - for breakfast
Chef Mickeys (Contemporary)- all day
Crystal Palace (MK) - all day
Garden Grill (Epcot) - all day
Tried to get Liberty Tree Tavern (MK) couldn't get.
Akershus(Epcot) - easier to get than CRT, great for girls!
1900 Park Faire (Grand Floridian) - lovely!

MGM
Sci-Fi Cafe - food just ok but atmosphere/setting is great
50's Prime Time - great setting/atmosphere!

Epcot:
Le Cellier - tried but couldn't get, meant to be lovely
Biergarten - DH really looking forward to it, have heard it's great
Teppan Edo - never been before so keen to try
Restaurant Marrakesh - same as TE

Resorts:
Whispering Canyon Cafe(WL) - heard great things, they have cactus margharitias!!:thumbsup2
Boma(AKL) - fab fab fab

At the end of the day, you've just got to see what you can get and what you fancy. At a lot of the places the food is secondary to the characters/setting/atmosphere, but then again it's theme park food - you're a captive audience! Don't go expecting haute cuisine, you'll only be disappointed - generally its good food served in a great environment. Start from there and you'll love it! :thumbsup2

Hope this helps
