I have a new Canon Powershot A570 IS. I am trying to figure out about the "recording pixels". Can someone please explain to me the difference in the recording pixels:

L (large): printing to about A3 size
M1 (medium 1): printing to about A4 size
M2 (medium 2): printing to about A5 size
M3 (medium 3): postcard size prints
S (small): send images as e-mail
postcard : print postcard size
widescreen: print on wide paper

OK, I'm just confused about this. I want to know if anyone has any advice on which of these to use. Will be taking pics at Disney, so I don't know which to use. Please help me!!!

personally i'd always use the largest file i have. memory is pretty cheap and ( i think a3 is like 12 x16) you never know when you might want a large copy of something

the sizes are: a4 can print= roughly 8x12 ,a5 about 6x8

so if you only print snapshot size, you can use m2 but like i said i always use the largest size..an 2gb sd card can be less than $20 and would hold like almost 300 photos raw so it would hold probably close double that jpg at your biggest. so for $40 you probably could take an entire vacation worth at the largest setting

So, if I plan to make some enlarged copies, say 8x10, should I go up to the largest size? Thanks for the help!

Also, where can I find a Canon brand camera case?

i would..i know circuit city used to carry them but that was a while ago. maybe check amazon, i know they carry a canon backpack camera case.

You might find Canon case at a Best buy, Circuit City or Amazon. I personally like other brands such as Lowe Pro or Tamrac. They are cheaper then Canon brand cases and just as good if not better.

I was just thinking of Canon brand only because this Canon camera is kinda "chunky" and I'm looking for the right size. I've checked in Wal Mart and Target, but their's is mostly for the SLIM camera types.

Just look on the circuit city site for the Lowe pro rezo 50. It should fit your camera and it $15. Circuit City and Best Buy have a much bigger selection than Target and Walmart. Just check the different web sites before going to the stores and you can even read some reviews. Also look at BandH photo site to get some ideas.

I'd recommend completely ignoring the "size" comparison. The camera is recording pixels, which you can print at any size. The more pixels, the better - anything but the largest is wasting the capabilities of the camera.

Canon's site gives the following info for your camera:
Still Image: 640 x 480 (Small), 1,600 x 1,200 (Medium 3), 2,048 x 1,536 (Medium 2), 2,592 x 1,944 (Medium 1), 3,072 x 2,304 (Large), 3,072 x 1,728 (Widescreen)
Large is the one you'll want. Widescreen just crops off the top and bottom. Anything less than Large is lost picture information. You can always resize the photo smaller later if you put it on a web site or whatever.
