We are going to try to go to DisneyLand in June. I need to find an affordable hotel for us. We don't want something super fancy, but we dont want dirty either. We would like something that would comfortably accomodate an 8 year old a six year old and two adults. It would be nice to have a kitchenette of some sort. We wouldnt be against renting a house, but I am guessing it costs more than a hotel.

Thanks so much for the help!!

well, if you want really cheap....super 8 was remodeled in the past couple of years, is within walking distance of the parks, the rooms have fridges and microwaves, and you can usually score a room for under $60 a night. type "super 8 anaheim" into your searchbar.

Do you have a budget you're trying to stay around per night? Just curious because if you say something like trying to stay around $50-$60/night it's going to be hard to recommend something with a kitchenette vs say $100/night. And what time of year are you planning on going?

My husband is in the Navy, so the only time he can go is around the 14th of June. We would like to stay about a week, maybe a little more. We were hoping that we could get something around 60 per night. I have thought about priceline but VERY worried that we would end up stuck in something icky.

If you have an entertainment book, you can get a room for $59.00 at Howard johnson's.

OOH that sounds great! Is there a limit on how many nights you can get for that price? Where would I buy that book?
thanks so much!!

The Entertainment rate is only offered sometimes--you can make a reservation at Hojo now at full price (make sure it's the right room type) and then cancel if your dates don't become available. If your dates become open you can just call IN-HOUSE reservations and get them to adjust your rate for those dates. (No kitchenette but I think they all have fridges?)

You can actually buy the cards on eBay. A quick explanation on the book: http://www.hojoanaheim.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=13

(Though I suggest you do NOT order from the website directly unless you order WELL in advance of your trip, as their website made errors, resulting in them sending me two books at standard shipping instead of one book at rush shipping...no one there would accept responsibility and getting it straightened out was a huge fiasco that still left me $5 behind by the end...)

A quick search on Hotels.com brought up these results.

Good Nite INN Buena Park $42 Per night
Eden Roc Inn & Suites $55
Anaheim Park Hotel $65
Hotel Menage Anaheim Boutique Hotel $75
Anabella Hotel $76
Super 8 Motel at the Park/ Convention Center $62
Days Inn Disneyland At The Prk $76
Super 8 Anaheim Disneyland Drive $59

Now that was just a quick search of hotels on Hotels.com

You can go there and look up hotels in anaheim and there are lots and lots of them. They will give you a description, show pictures and you can read reviews and see what amenities each hotel has. Of these hotels I found, I have only ever stayed at two of them. The Menage which was nice, kids loved the pool area. And the Days INN Disneyland at the park. That place was also fine but, there are two other Days INN close by and I have no idea how good or bad those two are.

Once you narrow it down to two or three hotels, you could always come here and post which two or three you are thinking of and ask the disboard members which they would chose. Many have probably stayed at the hotels you might chose from and be able to let you know just how good or bad each hotel might be. That could help you make your decision.

Hope this helps some. :thumbsup2

Eden Roc Inn & Suites $55

I have never stayed in this hotel, but we were considering it for our last trip and read some poor reviews on Trip Advisor. However, in saying that, I have never stayed there and perhaps these were one off situations that the reviewers experienced.

We have stayed at Hojos though and they were great - clean rooms, excellent pirate themed pool area for the kids, free internet and free parking. It is also only a short walk to the Parks. For $69 per night plus tax - if you can get the Entertainment Rate you can get a room with a microwave and a fridge.

Have a great trip wherever you decide to stay! :goodvibes

We stayed in the Super 8 on Katella last April and the 3 rooms our family had didn't come with a fridge or microwave. We had even reserved a fridge because of DS's special diet and when we checked in they said it was "unavailable" because someone needed it for medicine. That made it sound like they only had 1 fridge that they moved to different rooms. It was cheap (like you said, under $60) and it was walkable and it was nice for a cheap hotel. They also had free parking and free (small) breakfast with cereal and doughnuts.

There's another cheap hotel I've been hearing more about lately. Is it the Anaheim Plaza? I can't quite remember. I think it's one iwth the word Anaheim in it.

I have done priceline many times I did a 2.5 bid in the disneyland area. They would bump me up to a 3 star and gave me this

We liked it. It had a fridge in it. There is a microwave in the giftshop that you can use anytime.
The only down side was that it wasn't walkable. I guess you could but I wouldn't try it. Art did come right in front of the hotel. IT has a nice big pool and spa.
A nice bar/restaruant inside.

there are 2 super 8's near disneyland. i've never personally stayed at the one on katella...the one we stayed at was on disneyland dr. we stayed there once, many years ago, and it was not great. but then, they remodeled it and we ended up booking one night there in september of 2008 (shortly after the renovation was complete). it was cleaner, and nicer, than the kid suite we paid $130 per night for at comfort inn maingate the year before. our rooms (before AND after the renovation) had fridges and microwaves. plus, i also forgot to mention that the office has donuts and coffee in the morning. fruit too, i think.

ETA: i just looked them both up...the super 8 i am talking about is the one that is painted a weird brownish-yellowish color...not the one that is painted white (which is the one that actually looks better from the outside).

if anyone needs the link, it's the one at www.super8motel.net

NOT the one at super8anaheim.com

We've been able to get a $59 dollar rate at Anaheim Plaza before as well. They have good sized rooms, fridges and microwaves and the walk is not too bad. They do charge for parking though. They also have a big pool.

We really enjoyed the HOJO though and the walk seemed about the same to me. It's our first choice if we can get the entertainment card rate.

Thanks for that clarification. I figured you must have meant a different super 8 (since I'm sure you weren't hallucinating about the fridge and micro :rotfl:) but wanted to make sure OP knew to check for fridge and microwave since ours didn't have it.

thanks also for letting us all know that the other one doesn't have a fridge and micro (considering we only book super 8 when we're trying to do budget trips to DLR, we also bring a lot of our own food on those trips, so the fridge and micro are important). :thumbsup2
