During the Navigator series of lectures, they claimed that they wanted to paint the ship as close to black as possible, but that it would be blue. The reason it isn't totally black has to do with the absorption of light/heat. True black would absorb <b><i>much</i></b> more heat than even the dark blue that is 83% black.

Well, my DD counted all the posts and blue won out, so she has painted the hull dark blue. Once it is done I will try and post a picture. It is looking pretty cute. She spent almost all day working on it.
