:wave2: Hi everyone!

Time to re-decorate my kitchen and I need to select a new wallpaper and border. Bit about my house.... mediteranean in style in southern CA. Open floor plan with brown/tan in family room and dining room.

The top choices are:

http://www.decoratetoday.com/products/wallpaper/product_detail.asp?ptn=DZ408BA8&gensearchby=1&si=7 (with the harlequin? pattern wallpaper)

What do you all think? I LOVE chocolate so that's my pull on that one. But there is no black and I wanted to recover breakfast chairs/barstools in black. Wouldn't know what color to recover to match chocolate border...

Wine is nice.. Has some nice reds to it. Wouldn't think it'd go out of style too soon.

Love the roosters, but I'm afraid they're a bit 'trendy' and don't want to go through this again as soon as they're 'out'.

So, that's where I'm at. Please help me out and vote! Thanks! princess:

I like the wine the best. :teeth: What does that say about me. :rotfl2:

I also think the roosters are a tad trendy and the chocolate appears a little dark to me.

I like the wine one the best. The chocolate one would come in second, and I personally would not do the roosters.

ITA!

BTW, just wondering, are you ordering from MI or do you have your own store there? This place is like a mile from my house & I've never been in there! My friend shops there all the time for wallpaper & she just LOVES this place!

Good luck on your decision!

The roosters are trendy, but so is the french stuff...so pick what you like! Of the choices, I pick the chocolate! :)

I don't care for roosters unless your home is very "country".

I'll choose the wine.

I voted for the wine. I didn't realize roosters were "trendy". :confused3 They scream country to me.

I agree that of those 4, the wine is best.

What about something without a picture, like maybe scrolls? I did a search and found these - they come in different colors. Might be easier in an open floor plan, and the black would work.

Just too much time on my hands this evening! I should probably just go back to playing solitaire. ;)

My kitchen is done in a wine theme and I love it! So that's what I voted for. 2nd choice would be the chocolate. I'm not much into roosters.

I voted chocolate but I like the wine too. I am not a red wine person so I don't like the "wine theme", although it is pretty.

No way would I do "birds"....esp. after watching "Bird Flu" thing on tv.

I have had wine for five years. Dh works at a home decor store (not Bed bath and Beyond, but close) and does agree that Wine is on its way out, but not dead yet. He also says the roosters are way out.

He says that chocolate browns are big, and fall colors. Earth tones. Funky shaped plates are big. He also says you cant go wrong with black and stainless steel. Italian looks are in Tuscan type things. It is more about colors and shapes than it is pictures of things. These ideas are the movement of the inustry, not "trendy". It is the direction the whole kitchen decorating area is going. thse things should be around for a few years.

Good luck.

sorry but I didn't vote because I don't really care for any of the first four. The last one brown and the diamonds is okay for me.

I'm not a great fan of any of these but it is not my kitchen. What about a paper with wine bottles and fruit or somthing with more color choices. Black will go with anything so I wouldn't worry about that. I think you would get tired of any of these pretty soon. I'd keep looking in more books. But in the end you do what works for your eyes. Enjoy!!

go for the Chocolate. It looks very traditional, it won't date your house. Roosters are nice, go for them if you like them. I put cow border in my kitchen 10 years ago and i still love it, even if it is out of date. It's your house. Put up what you like!

Normally I would go with wine, but I gotta say I l am liking the Rooster w/polka dots. The colors are rich and I think the black would go great with your recovered chairs.

Run from the roosters!!! LOL. I like the wine.

I don't like roosters; they're a bit scary in low light. My boyfriend's stepmother has her kitchen done in roosters, with a fake one on the table. That thing scares the stuffing out of me! It's eyes are tooo creepy. :scared1:

I didn't vote but if I HAD to choose one I guess it would have to be the wine one...roosters look ok if you live in a farm house. But all wallpaper to me screams 1970's.

Not a big fan of wallpaper here. Why don't you do a faux finish on your walls with paint, and then place decorative accents/pictures around the kitchen. That way when you get tired of the look, just change the accents.
