My DH is attempting to replace our garbage disposal.....by himself!
Our garbage disposal's motor went out and I suggested that we call the appropriately trained people to replace it for us but DH suggested that he could replace it himself.
I am concerned to put it mildly. DH is not a very handy type. I am afraid that I will be calling a plumber to come fix the mess that will soon be my kitchen sink!
I feel bad for not having more faith in my DH's abilities but that is just the way I feel.
***UPDATE***
Well I am at least spared for another night. DH does not have the proper tools for the job so he will have to go to Home Depot tomorrow to pick them up before he can get really started.
New Garbage Disposal $70
New Tools $150
Emergency Room Visit for DH $200
Emergency Plumbers Visit $250
New Kitchen Sink/Plumbing $500
Marriage Counseling $1000
A Working Garbage Disposal: Priceless (no thats not right it is more like $2170!!!)

Last month our sump pump quit working & the water was rising! You can't imagine what we have in our basement that we would have lost if it had flooded. Anyway, my DH decided to take on the project himself. He did call a friend & got some verbal instructions & then we went to the pump store together (so that I could hear the instructions as well, in case he forgot) & as soon as we got home, my husband was replacing the part that had broken. He not only took it apart, but he put it back together without any parts remaining on the basement floor! I was so proud!

I hope this is all finished by tonight.
I guess I really did underestimate him.
