We are heading out on Thursday and for some reason I am not excited at all. I have been dreaming on going to DLR again since we went in June 09, and now we are going and I could care less. And this will only be my 4th visit and I'm a Disney freak. What is going on?? We are even staying at GCH. I'm kinda bummed I won't be with my family at Thanksgiving, and am really bummed watching DH work super crazy to get his job done so he can get off work (I keep telling him don't worry about it, we can go another time), and it's making me wish we never planned this vacation, bummed about how much it's costing and the works, nothing good:sad2:. Has this ever happened to anyone? I can't figure it out. I need a push and shove here to get reexcited. DD3 is overly excited and I'm excited for her, but I can't get excited. I've even been watching lots of Disney classic movies with DD to help her get familiar with other characters and still nothing. I need some pixie dust over here or some bibbity bobbity boo. Any suggestions?

Sometimes the stress of planning, finances, etc. can dampen the excitement of a trip...I understand that. I don't know if I have any profound advice, but I will tell you (in the past), once I'm actually there (wherever that vacation may be...and I would think that goes double for DL!:)) I can finally relax and enjoy it. I hope this is the case for you! I'm sure once you are there, it will feel like an actual vacation and you can take it all in...all the holiday splendor and what not. The Christmas thread and all the fun pics has definitely got me excited for our trip in December!

Hope you have a wonderful trip...oh, and (sprinkle, sprinkle) here's some pixie dust! :goodvibes

This happens to me right before out WDW trips. All the planning and excitement leads to stress right before the trip. I start to doubt myself, the plans, should we really be spending this money etc. But then I get there and have the best time ever. It's natural and you'll have a wonderful time.

Im in exactly the same boat as you. We are 12 days away from leaving and as of now I couldnt care less about the trip. Weve been planning this trip for months and Im not excited at all. I think that some of us including myself plan and plan and plan so much that by the time the trip arrives were sick of it and ready to move on to other things. However just like one of the other Posters said I think once you/we leave for our trip feelings will change and the excitement will return. One thing that helps me is to go and look through all the pictures that other DIS'ers have posted of DL. :happytv:

Been there & done that!!! I get overwhelmed before going to any trip, the planning is just too intense ....

You will have tons of fun!!! And you are staying at GCH :cool1:!!!

Have a magical time with your family:wizard:

I am so sorry that you're having these feelings, but they are cetainly understandable and not really all that uncommon. I have to agree that after you arrive and are immersed in the beauty of the GCH and the magic that is Disneyland, you'll get that excitement back! I'm sending lots of good wishes your way!:goodvibes

We will be there on Thursday also.:thumbsup2 I think when you get there and see how the magic affects your little ones it'll spread and you'll have a fabulous time.:hippie:

You have a 3 year old no one will be more thrilled to be there than her. I loved taking my kids when they were that little. Everything is magic to them.

Try not to stress so much. Sometimes we get so hyped up about it that it can feel less than magical before we get there.

GCH will be so nice! You get your own entrance and that will be really nice for you with a little one.

You may not be with your extended family on Thanksgiving but you will be with your family. You will be making new memories for your family. It will be great! Something special that not a lot of people get to do.

We are doing an indoor waterpark for Thanksgiving. People think we are crazy but I was telling my DD last night about it and she said, "I'd way rather do that than have turkey!" LOL!

I hope you have a great trip! Maybe you can get out some pictures of past trips and look at those.

You will have my favorite fireworks show of all with snow on Main Street. Have a cup of hot cocoa for me.

IASW will all dressed up too. I'm sure your little one will love it. My kids wanted to ride it over and over again.

My mom lives in Kailua-Kona so I'll be sending you some Aloha.

Have a great trip.

The weather here probably isn't helping either. It's cloudy and dreary (but still hot - ugh!).

Stress is cumulative. It all builds up and affects our moods. You mentioned the work stuff before and it sounds horrible. That will put a damper on anyone's mood - especially seeing DH stress out.

I do agree that once you are there and can let go of the negativity you had to endure to get there, you will be captivated by everything Disney. Plus, everyone is so nice. And all the Christmas lights and decorations! Have fun!
