WHAT? wow..yuk..I HAD NO idea.
Guess Ill have to prepare the kids...that's a big time bummer! :guilty:

HMM .well sorry to steer you wrong DisneyLover75...but I still think you will like POP...

LOVE the HUSTLE by the staff...so cool.
DO THE HUSTLE

I am just now secretly hoping the Ping pong table hasn't dissappeared?
And my Stir Fried Shrimp?

It was closed when we were there last November, but the new official Disney app, which is up to date with everything else still shows it. Would love to know.

We love POP! I very much prefer it over POR. The food court is awesome and there is a lot less walking.

My 2 year old was just diagnosed with Autism. Still sinking in. Hoping Disney is good for her. She loved it last year.

OP, I am so sorry about your situation. There is a Prince Charming out there that will be the husband and stepdad you and your kids deserve!

One of the things we have done (we often take trips over ten days and need non park things to do) is ride the monorail from the TTC over to Epcot. My kids also enjoy taking the various boats. The boat from DTD over to Old Key West or Saratoga Springs would be fun (and not drop you off at POR which might make you sad), and my kids also enjoy taking the ferry boat from MK over to the TTC and then a hop onto the monorail over to Epcot. No admission required for those "rides".

As for Blizzard Beach, we actually prefer it to Typhoon Lagoon and always have. I wasn't too keen on TL until my kids were much older due to the wave pool which is so big with such intense waves I was always worried one of them would get swept away. BB always felt much more manageable and the family raft ride there (Teamboat Springs) is probably our most favorite ride at WDW.

Miniature golf might be fun and with your November trip the Winterland course right near BB would be fun since its so close to Christmas. That one is also nice if you don't have a car since the bus to Blizzard Beach takes you right to the mini golf course there and that course is also a bit easier than the one over near Boardwalk. If you got a MYW package, you get a free round of mini golf for one person in your party which helps with the cost factor.

Speaking of Boardwalk, there is free nighttime entertainment there and its easy enough to get to. When my kids were about the age of yours, they loved the nighttime acts over at Boardwalk and getting a slice of pizza or something from the bakery.

You could also go over to the Ft. Wilderness area. There are some fun things over there that are free. Its an easy boat ride from the MK.

I think you will love Pop! My kids preferred the values when they were the age of yours. In fact in those days we were DVC but we'd usually stay a weekend at Pop or the All Stars to save on points and they'd always hate to leave to go over the DVC resort!

The movies at night are such a nice addition to all the resorts and even though they are generally ones we have seen, we always enjoy them. Even my now teenage kids enjoy doing that. Given your time frame I'd be sure to bring jackets and sweats and maybe even some smallish lightweight blankets, it can get a bit chilly! But we always swim at WDW including the cooler months since we always have some warm days. You have 12 days, so I am betting you'll have some pool time since that is a nice long span of time and its doubtful a cold snap could last that long!

I hope you have a great trip and I am so happy you are still able to go!

The Goofy splash pad was closed in June...

My "kids" are 19 and 22 and they love Pop. I am going there with my friend in September. Even we no kids we enjoy it there. I can honestly say it's our favorite.

They have a games room in pop, plus they have a guy that draws cartoons of the kids in the foyer. ( For a fee. ) I have photos of the drawing in the below group. :wizard: fB page.

Just checked out of there Friday a week ago...
the ping pong table by the pool is still there and they still do the Hustle (although now in the food court, we used to see them do it in the lobby...not sure when they changed the location) and I have no idea about the shrimp since I don't eat that. Hopefully they still serve it! :)

First, sorry that your family is going through this and sending you healing thoughts!

You need not worry - you and your kids will love Pop! We stayed there last March and it was wonderful. Lots of stuff to do but also big enough that you can easily find a quiet area if your son needs a break from all the stimuli for a bit. Big icons, bright colors, fun food court and gift shop, great arcade. The main pool has shower flowers that are fun too, even though there's no slide. Have a wonderful trip!

We will be arriving on Nov 15 too!! :)

OP - any chance the Little Mermaid rooms are available for your dates at the new AOA? That might be just as nice as POR! - Just a thought.:)

I was going to suggest ping pong for your DD as well. It's in front of the pool, so DD could pick up a game while you and DS swim. I think the balls are only $.25.

One trip I took DDs on, I was back & forth doing laundry and my girls started a game with two other siblings. They played for HOURS that night. I didn't realize until we were back at the room that the other kids didn't even speak English! My heart grew because I thought where else in the world could something like that happen?

One evening you could take your kids to FW for the movie. They have a campfire sing -a-long with Chip &Dale. You can buy (or bring your own) stuff to make s'mores. This is something I've ALWAYS wanted to do but we've never made it.

That's an awesome story. :goodvibes

Thanks to all for the replies. I remember loving it in 2005 too but I was so looking forward to the royal guest rooms that I needed reminding.

I appreciate it. :)

sorry to hear about your break up..

you'll be in disney,, you'll have a ton of fun

Is there someone else, like friend who might want to go also, so you could keep your plans as is..

I don't have advice for POP as I've never stayed, I juts wanted to say I am sorry for your hard time right now.

I do have friends that SWEAR by POP though, they love it over every other resort!

I would definitely call and say it's your DD Bday!! We went last year, a week before my DD 1st birthday. Mickey left her a bday card in our room, and everywhere we went wanted to sing 'Happy Birthday!' and she got a lot of free treats along the way.

There is a book called A Passporters Guide to Disney for your Special Needs that has a section on Autistic children in Disney. Also, if you go to Guest Relations, you can get a Special Needs pass, which allows you and your family to get ahead of lines, cutting your wait time severely. I know from friends that have autistic children that have used that, and it really helped b/c their son has a very hard time standing in lines and whatnot...then again, what child doesn't!

I wish you the best.

Not that it's a big deal, but balls are 50 cents. just so she would know. :) or you could bring some from home.... a pack from walmart I'm sure is much cheaper! ;)

No worries on the correction. I couldn't remember. I do remember that my girls brought them home as souviners, which cracked me up because they're plain white balls.

A friend of mine wants to come but may not get the time off from work. So she said not to plan on her and if she goes, it'd be a last minute thing. It would still have to be Pop.

The only other change I had to make was canceling the pirate cruise. We wouldn't make it to POR by 9:30am. My daughter doesn't know I'd planned it so she won't be disappointed. I kind of am, but I'll get over it. :)

I'm excited to be able to still go to Disney at all. It's all good. I've taken the kids by myself before and we had a great time. Now I'm wondering if we can go together on the rides .. hmmmm.

Yes the splash pad at pop is definitely gone has been for sometime now. They do lots of fun activities at the pool dancing contest, games , movies etc... Also on the s70's side of the main building I believe it's building 10 between that and the foodcourt there is a small playground for the kids. There's plenty to keep you busy around POP and your kids will love it ! You do know about going to guest svcs for a GAC CARD for your son it will make your park time more bearable.

Thank you.

Yes, we do get the GAC and that is very helpful. I don't know what I'd do otherwise.

As long as there are games and activities by the pool during the day, my daughter should be happy doing that. I'm hoping my son will be content just to swim. The playground is a possibility but I'm not sure it would hold their interest. Ping Pong definitely would, though. So would the arcade. For my daughter, anyway. My son is sort of a lost soul, poor love. He's very much on the go, and can be aggressive, and doesn't care to play by the rules in just about any situation. So he doesn't "play" in the typical way. I have to be careful and be right with him, because he could pinch, scratch, bite, hit or kick another kid.

I try my best to keep him within reach for that reason. But if my daughter is engaged in games and activities, I can keep an eye on my son.
