Ok, I'm old!! No doubt! My daughter is turning 27 next month. I have been racking my brain on what to get her. Some ideas I have brought up to her and that fizzled are:

1) Weekend away from home, I will pay the hotel/bed and breakfast, and will babysit the dog and my grandsons.

She didn't like this idea, and I understand why, as she just got a work at home job for Apple and doesn't spend as much time with the boys as she used to.

2) Disney Dooney princess bag

She really wanted this, but picked something else for Christmas. Now she is feeling like she has too many bags.

3) A trip to San Antonio with the boys also, going to the river walk and sea world. I would watch the dog.

This is a 'maybe'.

4) Spa day and hair gift certificate

Nah, just doesn't hit me Mom.

When I ask her what she wants, she says "I really don't need anything Mom. Umm, yea, like that's gonna happen. I really want to surprise her with something spectacular!!!! Oh, one more thing, she is on medifast, so have to keep food surprises out of the mix, and she works, so has plenty of $$$ for clothes. Grrrrr!

So...any idea. I can go $300 or so. TIA!!!!

Wow I wish you'd give my parents some ideas

my ideas for you

Kindle
luxurious bedding
digital camera and digital picture frame
Merry Maids- set up for a full cleaning or gift certificate
Office chair (if she needs a new one)
Blue ray (or new DVD player) player with couple discs
flowering (or fruit) tree; assumes she has a yard

Hope this helps

I had a similar situation with my 26 yo daughter for Christmas.

I found a cool website (in a magazine) where you have options to personalize necklaces. I choose silver with a round charm with her initial and added a gem stone (her birthstone, which also happens to be her favorite color!). There are other options as well.

She doesn't wear much jewelry, so I was a little concerned. Turns out she loves it and wears it almost every day! It is really pretty.

The magazine had a coupon code, so I really liked that. And I liked it so much I ordered a similar one for my best friend's bday! It wasn't $300, but it was great quality.

Good luck and let me know if you'd like more info.

When I turned 27 (a couple years ago...but I'm not officially telling how many!) any of those gifts would have really made my day!

The only suggestion I could make for a great bday gift would be something that doesn't cost much at all. You said she just got a work at home job for apple...what about a desk calendar (like the kind teachers use OR the 4" x 4" kind that sits/stands on your desk). Sounds really simple but here's the gift part: go through the calendar and on the special days in your/her life write a nice note (for her bday put "i was so happy to take you home and snuggle with you 28 years ago...it was one of the happiest days of my life" or something to that effect). Also on random days write the things you love most about her (your a good mom because..., i love when you call me out of the blue and...).

My DH did something similar for me last Christmas and it was the BEST gift he ever gave me because every so often I would see a message for him and my day would be instantly brighter.

Good luck finding the perfect gift!

I would LOVE the site!! Thank you so much!!!:goodvibes

It is NOT the price that counts, but I figured I needed a limit and that was it!!;)

This is a FANTASTIC idea and whatever gift I get her, I will add this to the idea!! Thanks SO much!!:woohoo:

I'm around your daughter's age, and the first thing that came to mind with a digital camera, especially when I saw that she has kids. I see someone else suggested this already, so I'm a little late! (I also love the Maid service idea - who could turn that down!) :thumbsup2

Does she like to go to the movies? Maybe a gift certificate to go to the movies would be something she'd like too.

Love the idea of a digital camera or the maid service. Another thought is giving her a family photo session with a professional photographer or perhaps offering to babysit your grandkids before the birthday having a photo shoot done of them and then surprising her with the results (maybe a large canvas print)

a CANON S95 is a really nice camera.

An ergo chair for her office

A month of precooked meals

Have her car detailed

First of all, how can I get a work from home job with Apple?

Second, how about a Pandora Bracelet? It's great because you can get her started with the beads/charms and then other family members (kids, kids!) can add on slowly. My daughter got one for me last Christmas and she has added on over past year. I love mine!

We actually both have awesome digital cameras that were on clearance when Circuit City closed last year. They were BIG splurges, as they were at 1/2 the cost that Best Buy was selling them.

I wish we had a concert venue close by, as I know she would like that, but nothing close enough with anyone she wants to see.

Thank you for the suggestions!

My son in law is a disabled, stay at home vet. He is a cleaning fanatic, but I will keep this in mind for his birthday! Thanks!

Wow! You're good! Only a couple problems. She, well, we have Canons, love them!:thumbsup2

She had to buy her ergo chair before she started work last month, ergo desk also.

Hubby got her a car detailing gift certificate, that I know about, but she doesn't yet!! :headache: YOU are GOOD!

You are an awesome mom!

I LOVE them, she thinks they are They're ok Mom, but not anything I would ever want.'

I tell you all, she is impossible to buy for!! She isn't at all spoiled (insert fingers crossed behind my back smilie).

I think, despite all of your awesome ideas, I may do the old $1 bills rolled and tied with ribbons in a huge box. I will have to put something besides bricks in it though, asi have done it before.;)

Love all the ideas and if there are any more, please let me know!!:goodvibes

I do like the necklace and the calendar idea, so maybe those, with the difference in $1.

As for working at Apple, she is a guinea pig. She is in the FIRST work at home group! Wish her well and there will be a LOT more job openings!!

This is a great idea! I love it!

It is a great idea, with a twist!!:flower3:

I can pre buy the WDW photo pass and add on a session for our October trip!!

You all are brilliant!!!!:cool1::thumbsup2:worship::banana:

Well and maybe a necklace too.;):scared1:
