PLEASE Help me decide :-)

I may be in the minority, but we stayed at both CBR and WL on the same trip. I have a 6 year old and a 16 year old. The distances I had to walk at WL was about the same as that at CBR and being from Massachusetts, the woody look at the WL is similar to alot of things here. We only were at CBR for 2 nights, but only was able to enjoy it for 1 night since we got there so late due to a snowstorm up here.

Mind you , not that WL is a bad place, we quite enjoyed it, but for the $$$ difference, CBR was really nice, we all enjoyed it and had no problems with walking distances, busses and loved the island feel.

I don't want to fuel a fire or have you think about changing your mind, but I felt I needed to put my 2 cents in.

Take care, and have fun.

Thanks for you input!! I love ANY input anyone has to give me...hmmmm....although you did make it a little harder for me..lol So, what does everyone else think? HELP....lol

I stayed at CBR, and while I didn't have a great time (too hot in Aug) I think its a nice resort. If you have kids its perfect place, makes you feel like you are in the Carribean, just can swim in the water. They do have water sports, like the little boats-I forget what they are called. Ive seen families playing water volley ball at night.

WL really is attractive to me. I went over and read some stories of trips of other folks and I read one of a women who took her 80 year old Dad and he was enthralled with the high ceilings. She did mention that the restaurant there was crowded and they bypassed it. But boat access to MK was a breeze.
I found it really helpful to read other peoples trip stories.
My husband ruled it out because he thought the bus trup length was too long for the rest of the parks besides MK.
The Unofficial Guide has average times, but I dont think its by bus, I think its by car from resorts to parks.

THere is a fair amount of walking that I didn't care for, especially with achy feet, but it felt kinda like camp (ahh nostalgia) when we crossed the bridge for breakfast with lots of others pouring out of their rooms.
Its a cool main pool area for kids too at the CBR.

Sorry I dont know much about WL.
I hear great things on the boards about Colorado Springs Resort- own bus system, moderate pricing, good location for MK or AK....

Welcome to the Boards. You can kiss doing housework, laundry, etc. good-bye right now, because you will be reading posts all day long. It's very addictive!

My best advice is to go to dreamsunlimitedtravel.com and let them do your pricing and reservations. They can use your Disney Visa #, they automatically check for price breaks every so often and let you know if they can save you any money. It doesn't cost you a penny, and they can do packages or room only/tickets separate reservations. On top of that, they will do a personalized itinerary for you, and will make PS reservations for you at the restaurants of your choice. Such a deal!!! I will never plan a Disney vacation alone again!

The only other thing is: once you've decided... don't second-guess your decision 'til you go crazy. My sister is doing that right now, "did I pick the right resort?"... "will the price go down at another time?"... and she will be bald by the time she gets to Disney because she will have pulled all of her hair out! Trust me, you will have a wonderful, magical time, and you will remember the special moments with your dd and dh far more than you will remember any crowds, or whether it was tough to get a stroller on a bus!!!

Thanks! I was a little concerned with the bus times from WL to all the other parks also. I guess it's just 6 one way, 1/2 doz the other right? Any resort we pick will probably be a long way away from something. The way I figured it though, it take the boat to MK then either the monorail or Bus system to anything else.

I am ALWAYS Second guessing myself. I have changed resorts like 6x's so far...lol The thing that I am beating myself up over is, IS IT WORTH IT? Should I even go or just save the money? We have decided to go, and I know that I'll probably look back and say, man, I wish I had that money in the bank, but I think I will more regret not going and spending that special time with just the three of us before it's 4 of us you know? And like my dh says, when we are 40 or 50 will we look back and say...MAN, we should've saved that money? Probably not...lol We would feel bad if we didn't........

I hate deciding things.....

NO! NO!... 1,000 times NO!!!! Don't ever think that it's not worth the money! IMHO, if there is one place in the whole wide world that's worth the money, it's Disney World!!! When you're 40 or 50, will you be happier to see a couple of extra thousand in your bank account (plus the interest it will earn, I suppose over those years) or the 8 x 10 photo of your 2 1/2 yr. old baby DD cuddling with Mickey or Minnie or Pooh?

We never know what tomorrow will bring... so if you can afford a minute or more in the Magic, GO FOR IT while you can!!! If you don't have a fantastic time full of special memories, I will go in your place next time!!! ;)

::yes:: I am just a tiny bit opinionated about this subject.

p.s. If you pull your hair out during this trip planning stage, have no fear. They sell great wigs at the Rock 'n' Rollercoaster gift shop at MGM!

p.p.s.s. Every board here is therapy, hmm.... except maybe the Debate Board.

Thanks so much...your reassurance helps. That's the same thing my dh said to me the other night. We were debating on going to disney or putting an extra $200 on the house note for a year...which would help cut off alot of years of paying for this house.....but we decided Disney. We always have later to pay extra on things. And I totally agree that one day looking back on the pics, we will never doubt we made the right decision :)

Now, wondering if I should go with my natural hair color or something funky for my wig...lol ;)

Just had to add my 2 cents...

We go to WDW every year around the time you are going. It is a great time to go because there are no crowds. So even though the hours are shorter, it works out fine. But be prepared for it to be hot...we have been there the last week of Sept and it is usually in the 90s. If you go at the beginning of Oct, try not to run into Columbus Weekend...starts to get busier, although still not crowded.

As far as the resorts go, we have stayed at all you mentioned. I definitely prefer WL over AKL and it is closer to everything. But I do want to put in a good word for POR. We are owners at BWV now, so we stay there. But before owning, we stayed at POR many times. It is really a nice resort. There are 2 totally different sections. We always chose the Alligator Bayou section. Very beautiful, wooded, bunnies outside your door in the grass. It is very kid friendly and it is nice to have the food court when you have a little one for quick (and less expensive) breakfasts, etc. You will love WL, but if you decide on a less expensive trip another time, definitely consider POR.

Look at this way...you'll be at Disney...you'll have a great time wherever you stay!!!

P.S. Someone else mentioned eating at Boma at AKL. Definitely try this if you can, but make a PS.

Why, oh why, is my wig pic so small?
I bet that you cannot see it at all!
I'm technologically challenged, that's what I am...
All I can say is d@#@!, d@#@!, d@#@!, d@#@!!

I was afraid of making the picture too big
And now you can't even see just one wig!
Go to the Photo Gallery, that's what you do,
Wig Pic's in MGM, waiting for you!

:( Kim

But were you able to see the picture well enough? It's one of my favorite Disney photos ... there's some real Magic in that picture, I tell ya, if you could know my calm and in-control DH (the one in the blond wig on the right!)

Dang it! If you can't see it, let me know and I'll re-size it and re-send it to myself, and re-upload it. You HAVE to know which wig you can get!!!

;) Kim

p.s.
Girl, be careful... I can't help you find a replacement for that at a Disney gift shop!!! :teeth:
