Please help - LOST PASSPORT !!!!

HEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPP I'm going frantic as I can't find Ethan's (youngest son) passport.

Both boys need their passports renewing so in October I got all the forms filled out and got the photos signed. Then I had my operation so I thought I'd send them off in January before the spring renewal rush.

Anyway now I can't find the filled out and signed forms and photos AND Ethan's passport

So what do I do now I can just get the normal form for Josh but does anyone know what the process is for replacing a lost child's passport ??? Do we need to go through the new "interview" process ??

I dont think you have to, you have to report the passport lost and get/fill in a lost/stolen notification and send that in with a new form filled in. It should just go through as usual.

You will have to report it to the police as lost/stolen and they give you a crime reference number that you need to write in a seperate form with the application.

This may of changed but i did this in 2004 when i lost my passport.

As above. I can tell you that in 2008 I was told that there is no interview for replacing or applying for a first passport for a child (can't remember if thats under 12 or under 16). I had a similar issue and actually had to go in for an interview to replace mine, but DDs passport was just done through the check and send at the PO and she had her new one in a week. I asked when I went in and they confirmed that she wasn't excused because I had to go in anyway - children do not require attending. You will however need the Police reference number though as you will make a statement which serves as a type of Affidavit. They will just ask you to declare when last your remember having it, where, how you may have lost it, etc. Give passport services a ring and ask them what they need. If you do a google their website will come up, but phone rather than emailing if you are in a hurry as they take several days at best to respond to an email.

If it helps, this kind of thing happens constantly and there are measures in place to rectify the situation when pressed for time - although it may cost you more than you would have paid for a renewal.
