We will be at Marriott Grande Vista soon. I have heard that there is a lot of construction. Does anyone know how visible it is. I am concerned that it will affect our trip. since our party will be large (me, DH, DDs age 6 and 2, and my in laws) we will spend more time at the resort for swimming, boating, eating, napping than usual. I may be able to stay at another vacation club property instead. Any advice? Thanks.

Where did you hear of this? I am staying there next month and the person I rented from said they called in my requests and when they asked about construction, they were told there was none going on. (I read a post on these boards about it, so that's why I asked) But then again, I think the same poster said not all balconies are screened in and I was assured that every unit IS screened in. Could it be that poster was mistaken about which resort was being discussed?

Maybe you should call the MGV directly and inquire about it if it will make you feel better about staying there.

I still plan to stay there, from what I hear it's a fantastic resort with plenty for the kids/families to do there.

When will you be there? Our dates are April 19-26th.

Thank you. You are right I did read it here. I will check with the grande vista Monday and post what I am told.

I don't know if construction is currently taking place. There was none last year when we stayed there but I thought they were going to start on some new buildings this year. However, I do know that when we were there, not all balconies were screened in.

whoops - should have clarified...I was asking specifically on a 2BR/2 bath if they were screened and was told all those units are. Still don't know if I'm getting the right info. As of 3/2/03, this is what was told to me, also that at this time, there was no construction going on.

I called to book a 2 bedroom/2bath using one of their timeshare promotions and the gentleman from Marriott told me they are refurbishing all the 2 bedroom units. So, I would have to stay at Cypress Harbour. He said the available units are for current owners of GV. He also said they are in need of refurbishment because they are 6 years old, and have not had any refurbishments yet. So, that is probably the construction you are talking about. He said 2003 is the year for 2bedroom refurbishments. So my suggestion is to ask for one that is complete and you will have a beautiful new unit to enjoy. OR book at cypress harbour because their units were just done last year.

Just got back from Grande Vista - no visible construction from what I saw - it was an absolutely wonderful resort and I'm sure you'll have a great time. We had a 2BR unit and whilst it was not brand new - it certainly was not in need of refurbishment. Only one small complaint - the mattresses on the sofa beds were abysmal, fortunately I did not have to sleep on them.:)
