I'm planning a 2 week surprise trip for myself and DD19 in May. :woohoo: She's a Disney fanatic and last year chose a 2 week trip to POR in lieu of a grad party. That was to be our last trip for quite some time but since we have annual passes that expire in June, plus I got a 30% off room only pin, free airline tickets using our credit card points and double fuel perks on Disney gift cards, I'm thinking we may as well go one last time….who knows when we will go again.

Now...here's my dilemma...I am torn between a standard room at CBR or POP. :confused3 We are going for 14 nights so CBR is $730 more and let me say, we are not rolling in money. ;) Something else to mention...we really don't want to have to walk 10-15 minutes to get to the food courts. Here are the pro's and con's I've come up with for each.

CBR Pro: New resort for us; 2 sinks/mirrors in room; refrigerator; covered bus stop with benches

CBR Con: $730 more; food court (usually eat breakfast at resort as well as some quick meals); size of property, depending on room location

POP Pro: Save $730; better food court, we liked it 5 years ago, smaller sized resort

POP Con: stand while waiting for buses in the blaring sun; one sink/mirror to share; no refrigerator

We return to the resort almost every afternoon for a break…DD goes to the pool (I take a nap). DD tries to meet guy friends to hang out with although now that she is getting older, I'm not sure how many 19 year old guys go to Disney with their families.

To give you an idea of what we like/dislike, this is how I would rate where we have stayed in the past:
#1 POR (not available for our stay)
#2 POP/Poly (IMO, Poly was nice but not worth the extra money)
#3 POFQ
#4 ASMU

Since I'm indecisive and already changed my mind 3 times, I decided to post a poll. My fellow Disney friends will determine where we stay. Our trip is in your hands. :thumbsup2

I voted for the mod, but never stayed at either, so take this with a grain of salt. I think that the pool, where your daughter sounds like she would be spending much time, would be better there. And to save $$ I would bring a lot of my own snacks and drinks. Freeze bottles of water to bring with you to the parks, bring your own water/soft drinks to pool side, have breakfast bars, cereal, chips, snacks in your room. That might not make up the whole difference between the two resorts, but it will be a start.
Besides, two sinks/mirrors with two women will make for a more relaxing trip.

That is a tough decision, but I would go with CBR just based on the fact that you've never stayed there before. If you like POR (my favorite resort too) then I don't think the size of there resort will effect you much. I wasn't a huge fan of CBR, however, the bathroom scenario and a little extra room are the key winners for me. Plus, if you are mostly just eating breakfast at the resort, I think you'll be ok with the food court.

That was a tough decision. I like to save money and I like POP alot, and for two people, the room size is fine, but what made me pick CBR was that you'd be there for two weeks. That's a lot of time, and you will probably want some relaxing time and CBR just seems more relaxing to me (hammocks, hottub, shade). I stayed at POP for 6 nights and it was perfect for that trip, but we didn't have much down time since the trip was shorter and don't even think we dipped our toes in the pool.

Even though it is more money to stay in, I chose the moderate. We haven't stayed at either of these resorts, but have visited them. I think the atmosphere and grounds are so pretty at CBR, but the huge icons of Pop are fun. Your DD is going to like the whole beach feel of the resort and the bigger room, plus like a PP had said since this is going to be your last time going for a while, why not splurge a little :goodvibes. Good luck deciding.

I am so glad I decided to post this. I will check in later to see what the consensus is. I really appreciate your input. .;)

I would love to hear more opinions from fellow Dis'ers. Thanks for your help!

Have you thought about doing a split stay? Since you are there for 2 weeks, I would say that it might be fun to have a change a week in. Do Pop first and then head over to CBR, then the price difference would be less and you would have some variety.

Have fun deciding,

K in SA

We have thought about doing a split stay on previous vacations. Even though we 're there for 14 nights, I feel as though we would be wasting time by having to pack up twice...plus I really dislike packing. :sad2:
