I have spent the last couple of weeks perusing the various "budget" sites for codes for an auto rental for 11/28-12/13. Even with the codes listed, I'm still looking at over $550.00 for a compact/economy car. Some of the posts have fantastic rates listed that were achieved. Can anyone give me some of the codes used?? The ones listed are only affording me $20.00 per week discount. I may not be able to rent a car at this rate and I hate the thought of Mears.

Try mousesavers.com and also the transportation board. There are a few posts there with rental info and discounts.

Dear Snowgoose,

Try Rentalcars.com. They have some codes available for Alamo. Also try expedia, travelocity and sidestep.com.

Good Luck!

Thanks,
Jennifer

I've been checking on rental car rates this week for Dec 6-13. I checked every code I could find but ended up booking without a code. For my dates, I was able to book a Standard card (Dodge Stratus or similar) - 7 days - for $94.88 at Thrifty's own website.

Thrifty's 7 day rental rates were:
Economy class - $79.88
Intermediate - $89.88
Standard - $94.88

Also, if you go to www.rentalcars.com first you can follow their link to the Thrifty website and it will insert a code that will make it possible to get an upgrade (based on availability at rental time).

We've never rented from Thrifty in Orlando but my husband has rented from them on several business trips with no problems. I just booked at this rate last night so I would think it is still available!

Good Luck!

Don't forget to try Priceline.

Checking out BiddingForTravel.com and see what the going rates are for the airport you want to rent a car from.

I've gotten excellent rates from them in the past ie: $18 per day for a full size etc.

Happy Trails!

Wdisneelvr,

Where at bidding for travel do you find the car rental information?

I can find the FAQ's section and the Hotel information for Orlando but haven't been able to locate car rental bid information.

Thanks in advance.

If using Priceline I would caution that you won't be able to make any changes to your reservation and your credit card is charged when the reservation is made. My family has gotten some great deals there but have never tried bidding for a rental car.

Good luck!

MissSwish--

Keep scrolling down. First is hotels, then Airlines, and next is Rental Cars. In that section, scroll down till you see Orlando. (it's the third one down)

:)

Well, DUH! I have never scrolled down on the first page of that site before. I mostly use them for hotel information. Thanks for you help wdisneelvr

I tried Priceline for my car rental, but by the time I pay PL's fees, even if my bid was accepted I wouldn't save any money.

Last month I reserved a car at Dollar. I got a Economy car for a total of $150.00 for 9/13 through 9/20. Plus I joined their club and they sent me two coupons for an upgrade.

I don't think I'll beat that rate, unless I go to Thrifty which is offsite and I really don't want the Shuttle bus hassle.

To the original poster, perhaps you are trying too soon? Although I did find a compact at Alamo for $469.00 using the code at rentalcars.com.

We went to WDW last year and received a great price by using Priceline. We kept trying off and on until they met our price. We went in early/mid Dec and I think we booked the rental car in Oct or Nov. Debby
