We are Canadians and due to the winter weather, we decided to arrive Orlando a day prior to our check-in at Grand Floridian. There are 6 of us (including 1 kid, 1 infant), so we either need a 2-bedroom suite, or two rooms. My ideal requirements are as follows:

1). close to GF (try to get their as early as possible the next morning to check-in).
2). safe self-parking (will leave luggage in rental car for the night)...hopefully not too far from the hotel lobby (we will have LOTS of walk walk walk starting the next day)
3). Hassle-free - I don't want people to bug me for time-share etc stuff
4). clean (and hopefully quiet) my mother-in-law really need a good sleep for after the long journey

Since this is one-night only, I am quite flexible with pricing - under $200/room is fine. We just need the basics - this is for a afternoon nap (kids), then we head out to Walmart & dinner, and hopefully back to hotel early to bed & early to rise the next morning.

* A colleague suggested Fairfield Inn in Marriott Village, but another friend complained about the terrible traffic jam at vineland ave.

* I wanted to try Caribe Royale, but DH wanted less hassle. He dislikes staff who bother him with timeshare, tours, etc. He wanted to park the car and get right up to our rooms - after a long drive.

* Close to DTD (or even DTD hotels) would be great too. DH likes Joe's Crab Shack :)

THANKS

the Regal Sun Resort - just redone - you would need 2 rooms but its very close to WDW/DTD see map link below

Also hotwire.com type in your dates and when choices come up on the left you can remove areas you don't want to stay in and just choose from areas you do - only issue is you won't know what hotel it is until you commit to buy.

Also the Sheraton Safari is close too and have suites w/2beds in the bdrm and a pull out couch in the living room - we have stayed here and thought it was nice.

:) We love Cypress Pointe Grand Villas. You can reserve through hotelkingdom.com cheaper than any site I've found. Their 2 and 3 BR units are huge. They do ask at check in if you need attraction tickets or would like to attend a free breakfast. We always say no thanks and that is that. No hassles at all. It is very close to Joe's Crab Shack... Like walking distance if you felt like it. There is a Winn Dixie next door and Super Walmart is about a 10 minute drive. It is also less than a half mile to the entrance of Downtown Disney. Nice pool and hot tub as well. Good luck and have fun!:)

We have just returned from our WDW vacation and we too, needed a place to stay for 1 night prior to our check in. We chose the Sheraton Safari Hotel and were pleasantly surprised. They gave us a rate of 69.00 for the night and the room and linen was very nice.

I second the vote for Cypress Pointe, although Hotelkingdom isn't always the cheapest place to book it. ;)

My family and I stayed at Caribe Royal (extremely close to WDW) just google it. They offer two bedroom suite's that are absolutely phenominal, also the pool area is wonderful. They have restaurants that are delicious. Trust me you cant go wrong. They accept AAA for discounts or visit Mousesavers.com, they also will have great rates, as well as reviews. I think you will find them to be awesome! good luck!:cool1:

Hi Disneymousefan, can you please tell me more about the 2 bedroom suite in Caribe Royal?

1. Do they have a microwave in room?
2. Do they charge a resort fee for facilities like pool?
3. Anyone bugs you for time-share, presentation, etc?
4. How big is the resort? Is self-parking far away?
5. How are the restaurants?

Thanks!

Wow that's a great rate. When I check out their site it's much higher. Also why does it only let me put in # of adults, not kids???:confused3

Check out their review on Mousesavers. They have a full kitchen, laundry machine in the villa, and it looks like wonderful restaurant. I think parking my be far, don't know, but maybe they have valet. Sounds like a nice option - you could do any wash before heading to GF, have a nap, and stay right there for dinner. The pool looks nice for the kids too.

I know you said no to the caribe hotel, however, we got the caribe hotel off of hotwire, and loved it! The room was huge and and was very clean, and the staff was nice. Plus it was a straight shot down 536, it was 5 min drive to any of the parks. We were never hassled for anything.
