I am presently at work and am flying to Orlando tomorrow. I called MS om a whim to see if BW was available and it wasn't, but BLT was! We will be checking into a lakeview studio on Monday and checking out on Thursday. I know nothing about BLT......any advice to make the visit go as smoothly as possible? We will have a car. We are staying offsite Sat night, one night at SSR then three nights at BLT. We spend alot of time at the resort so would appreciate all advice. Oh, I specifically would like to know if there is a good running path? TIA

BLT is a nice resort, very convenient to all of the MK area resorts via the monorail.

As far as running, you could leave BLT and run across the street towards Magic Kingdom and follow the path along the lake until it dead ends at the canal. Then just turn and come back. Round trip is a little over 1.5 miles.

BLT is a great resort. If you are at all familiar with the DVC properties, you will find the BLT studio to be small. It is, IMHO, fine for two adults and a child. The lakefront villas have great views; we were on the 9th floor. The property has a modern decor and furnishings. The kitchen in the studio is galley-style.

All of the restaurants and services are in the main CR building, reached by a bridge that takes you to the CR's 4th floor, where you gain access to the monorail. You will check in at the CR as well.

Ok, so we check in at The Contemporary then go up to th 4th floor and find walkway to BLT? Where is the laundry room for DVC? And I am assuming busses are shared with Contmporary??? Any recent info on Top of the World Lounge? I remember reading that you can view the fireworks from there, but are they open earlier in the evening ? How do we access that (if we can) ? Sorry, I told you I knew nothing...am soooooo excited though! :)

hey it is my favorite!
you check in at the CR on the first floor.
after you check in - you can take the back door of the CR (where the swimming pool is) - or you can take the elevator to the 4th floor - or the escaltors to the 4th floor (you need to ride two of them) - the door is on the right side of the resort - behind the shops.

(the monrail is on the left side)

the laundry room is on the first room - close to the north side elevators.

TOWL generally opens at 5pm. the fireworks start at 8pm for your nights.

even if you can see the fireworks from your room - would definitely go up to the balcony. you can see alot more. to access you need to go to the first floor - the concierge and they will either take you or have someone else take you to the elevator and start it. you must show your ID (key) and sometimes the blue card (I have never been asked for this - but others have)

for the running path ask at the front desk. there is a BIG map between BLT and CR that also has it.

there is one now.

for the gym - it is in the CR on the 3rd floor - and you MUST ride the elevator to get there.

We own at BLT and stayed there last April for the first time and loved it.
You have to remember it is BLT at the CR, so you have two resorts. All of the services at CR are open to you. Both resorts, pools etc. The arcade is at the CR and so are the food services and stores. BLT has a community room, shuffle board, pool, hottub, and ping pong. Snack bar and bar by the pool. You need your key to get into the pool are it is fenced off, but the CR pool is wide open.
We used the CR pool more, because it is bigger and was less crowded in the afternoon. CR also has another pool by the water it is a circle and deep, very cool. My boys and DH rented mouse boats at CR on our first day. We went up to the TOWL twice, once for a DVC presentation and one evening for cocktails. We did not stay up there for fireworks because we could see them from our balcony. They do movies by the lake and you can watch the water parade from the bridge that connects the two resorts.
We did love being able to walk over to MK, very convenient.
I could go on.....enjoy the resort....
Oh we also booked a last minute lunch at WL and it was so convenient going back and forth by boat!
Great location.....:love::love:

The bridge from inside the CR to BLT is on the main floor with chef mickey's, but on the other side. It is near the big glass gift shop. With the gift shop to you left, go to the end of the CR and turn right. The doors going outside is what you want. This will take you to the DVC BLT bridge. It is covered, but not enclosed.

I love the TOWL. Enjoy it. The fireworks are great from the observation deck, and it is a nice lounge to catch a few drinks. On our trip there last year, I would hit the TOWL after 10:30 after the wife and kids had crashed. I'm a night owl. The bartender's working that week were great and very friendly. THey provided plenty of conversation for the nights I was there. Enjoy.

We've stayed at BLT a handful of times and LOVE it. (And I didn't think I'd care too much for it with the modern theme. But the rooms are bigger than I've experienced at others). We normally stay in a 1 BR, but husband and I have stayed in a studio. Very nice.

Definitely try Top of the World Lounge. We love it. It is not crowded and the staff has been great every time we've been there. You will need to be staying there on points to gain access.

Check-in as at the Contemporary. Just pull up and check in at Contemporary and then drive your car over to the BLT parking. Very close. Unload your car from the BLT parking, unless you are willing to wait a bit and have Contemporary bell service bring your items.

The running path is about a mile. Not fabulous, but functional. I modify the path and jog over to MK and by the monorail station and then back and then take the road over by Wilderness Lodge. You can make it work however you need to.

If kids are traveling on the trip, my sons LOVE the community hall. It is the best compared to the others we've experienced. If it is just adults, definitely utilize Top of the World. It is great. We enjoy it. Have a great trip! Can't wait to go back!

As PP the access to the sky bridge from the Contemporary is on the 4th floor but you will at the 5th floor at BLT.

Ice machines are only on certain floors so check your room map or ask where they are located. The ice machines in the room refrigerators are not filtered.
