We have decided (I have DH not so sure!) to upgrade to club level. We have a DS12, DD9 and have a regular room at HRH for $259 (Oct 10-15). Club level at HRH is $359, RPH is $329, a saving of $150 over the 5 days, plus what I have been reading, is a better hotel to stay at Club Level. Any recent developments in this area? Also, more concerned that since this is a HUGE splurge for us, would HRH theming and hotel be better fit/enjoy it more for the kids than RPH. Of course would prefer PBH but it is $399. In food/drink savings alone, I'm sure it is worth it. I know the intent is not to do so, but can you make the happy hour food dinner if you had a big lunch? Also, if you miss this can you have a glass of wine/beer between 7pm and 11pm or is it all locked away? Thanks.

We like the HRH club, haven't stayed at RPR's so I can't comment on the differences. Our DS 11 and DD 9, both love the HRH pool slide and underwater music. The staff at the HRH also does a great job around the pool keeping the kids busy with pool games and such.

For us, we tend to eat one large meal a day. The morning offerings in the club are fine for us, we tend to eat a large lunch in the parks or citiwalk, then hit the 5-7pm club for a snack and a beer. They do lock the beer up at 7, and you can only get one at a time when they are open. Not sure if most people could count the club for dinner, but its a good snack and we might just stop and get some appetizers in citiwalk instead of a full blown supper.

We stayed club in March and I didn't think the evening offerings were all that great. Chips and salsa, maybe some wings, nothing too great. Hopefully it will be better next week when we go back!

I am no help to you at all, but I made the exact same change, was originally HRH and switched to RPR club. We love HRH so I hope I made the right decision. We'll see next week! When are you going? I will be there june 9-17 so when I get back I will post how it was.

We stayed at the RPH in Februrary. Here's what they were serving at the club lounge.

6:30 a.m.--coffee, hot tea, milk, juice (apple & orange) and bottled water (that you can take to the park).
7-10:30 a.m.--breakfast--several kinds of cold cereal, 4 kinds of mini-muffins, warm, just baked cinnamon rolls with icing, 6 kinds of sweet pastries, croissants, cut up fruit, bagels, yogurt.
5-7 p.m.--snacks, beer, sodas & wine--tortilla chips with sour cream and salsa, PB&J Uncrustables, a hot appetizer such as chicken dim sum or shrimp egg rolls; 4 kinds of crackers, 6 kinds of cheese, sliced veggies; bagged potato chips
8-9:30 p.m.--dessert--2 kinds of gourmet sweet tarts such as cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake with amaretto filling, 4 kinds of cookies, PB&J Uncrustables

That would be fabulous - I think I'm going to cheat and make two reservations :rolleyes1 and then when we truly decide I can cancel one. Thanks so much everyone for the feedback... keep it coming!
One more question that has arose in my mind .... what would your loew's card upgrade you to if you are already in concierge - maybe a kid's suite? LOL wouldn't that be an upgrade!!!

denny144,
That menu sounds pretty similar to the HRH. Biggest difference I can remember is that I don't recall any PBJ's and the deserts were just oreos or chocolate chip cookies, nothing exceptional.

We'll be at the HRH June 9-13th, trying a couple of nights at the Cypress Point Villas first in a 3 bedroom villa. Couldn't beat $135 a night for a 1800 square foot hotel room!

Unfortunately, beer & wine is only served between 5-7 at the RPR. You could speak to them beforehand to see if they will "save" you a beer or glass of wine, but in all of our stays there, we have never done this. If you are in the lounge at 5 or 10 minutes to 7, they make a point of asking you if you'd like anything else as they are ready to stop serving.

As your dates get closer, you may have better luck with an AP or AAA rate if you have either one of those. We have paid as little as $209 for RPR Club with an AP in October.

Also, if you have had a big lunch, the evening offerings should be plenty for you. They always have one hot appetizer and a nice salad which change daily. Then they always have veggies and dip, gourmet cheese and crackers, and chips, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. ETA: they also have wrapped PB&J sandwhiches most of the time too.

I have never stayed at HRH, but I think your kids will like RPR just fine. The RPR staff is small and they are very personable.

Thanks for that - $209 would be SO great (I'd even be good with $309), our rate does come with 2 adult passes and 1 child which ends up being valid for our whole stay. (we will have to pay for one adult for our 12yr old). So it works out to be a $200 saving over the 5 days.

Your KIDS will think you are the coolest with HRH! I vote for that. You do not need the HRH Club. With kids I know that you always need the money for other stuff! The Kitchen is great as well as the coffee/ice cream shop!

I had read these boards since January when I made my reservations for club level. I am so happy I did!! We went in May and had a great time. Room was wonderful, view great. The club level staff was awesome. We will for sure go back there again. My kids are 6 and 9 and loved it. The best was when you returned from the parks and everyone was thirsty, you didn't have to hunt down a pop machine or find a drink. Just hop over to the club lounge and get your drinks. We always stopped at night for our evening desserts. I feel the desserts could be more kid friendly but we still had a great time.

Thanks to everyone for the great feedback - another question - are the rooms deluxe rooms or are they the same as the normal garden/pool view rooms?

I had the same question. I have been going back and forth about reserving a club room. Right now, I have a deluxe room reserved so that we can have the extra space. I was also planning on asking about an upgrade to a suite and paying the 35 extra with my Lowes Gold. If I knew I could still get a larger room if I booked Club, it might make the decision easier.

From what I understand - for HRH and RPH the club rooms are the same size as the standard rooms. For PBH, the club rooms are larger than the standard rooms. We have only stayed on club in RPH and HRH so I have not done the comparison myself but that is what I was told by the reservationist this year.

Is anything available between the posted serving times in the club lounge? I am thinking bottled water and fruit. I am looking at RPH- very surprised my 9 year old picked it over HRH- and love the idea of club level for breakfast. We have stayed concierge at the Polynesian and it was so great.

Yes, after breakfast, they have bottled water, sparkling water, sodas, bags of chips, fruit, and sometimes we've seen doughnuts. This is between 10:30 (when breakfast ends) and 5 (when Beer O'Clock starts -- no, this is not an official term, just the one Mike and I use to signify beer and wine and appetizers :) ).
