Please Help! Early reception food?

Hi ladies

We are planning on having our ceremony at SBP at 10:00am, and I am REALLY undecided about what to do about the reception/ food. Hoping that some of you can guide me in the right direction... I am thinking that the reception would start at 11:00ish? Not sure if that will allow enough time for pictures and all of that good stuff, but supposing that it does, what would you serve foodwise? Should I go with a brunch, or lunch? Any good options? & on the contrary, if 11:00am isn't enough time.. how much time did you allow between the ceremony and reception?

Have you talked to a DFTW planner about the timing? They probably have a pretty good idea of how long everything will take.

A few things to consider: are you going to see your groom before the ceremony, or will you need to do all your pictures after? Do you have a long distance to cover to get from SBP to your reception location?

As a starter, I can tell you that the schedule Disneyland gave us was 5pm ceremony, 5:30 pre-reception, 6:30 reception. I think this is their generic schedule, and our locations are all really close together. We are planning on seeing each other for pictures before the ceremony so I'm hoping we might actually get to attend part of our pre-reception.

As far as brunch vs lunch food, I'd say brunch just because I love it so much! But I do think that it would be a good idea to include at least some lunch food, especially if your start time gets pushed more toward noon. Is there a price difference between brunch and lunch food?

Groom is actually the one giving me a hard time about this since he does NOT want to see me before the ceremony. I wouldn't mind either or. Reception will not be too far from the ceremony location.

I love brunch too. (I love breakfast) but my MIL thinks it will be ridiculous to serve breakfast foods when it is lunch time! & I wouldnt want to serve anything too heavy... which is why I wanted to see what others were doing.

My timeline is 4:30 guests arrive, 5 ceremony, 6-7 pre-reception, 7-12 reception.

...they seriously don't start the 10am ceremonies until 10:30?

I have a notoriously late family, so I was going to tell people 9am for pictures because they'll all show up at 9:30 anyway. Maybe I won't have to?

Good to know I was wondering what on earth could possibly go on during a ceremony that would require an hr and a half This makes so much more sense.

We're having a 10am SBP wedding too!
Just to add to the timing discussion, our contract states that the ceremony is 9:30-11:00, so the actual ceremony is starting at 10. Then our reception starts at 11:00. We don't have a specific time listed for a pre-reception. We're doing a first look, so we don't need much time for pictures after the ceremony anyway. You may be able to have the pre-reception/reception time pushed back to 11:30 if you need to ...
As for menu, we're doing mostly breakfast-type foods...definitely Mickey waffles! We have our planning session in a few weeks so our menu may still change a bit.

Hey, I think we have a lot in common--- my DF and I are high school sweethearts who got engaged in the world too!

So nice reading about other hs sweethearts since that's not something you see too often anymore. Except on the Disboards! There are a lot of other hs couples on here! I am a big Disney fan so DF was smart to propose there LOL I didn't even expect it since we are there veryyyy often. (I live only 4 hours away & we are annual pass hlders)
