Please help! Dining Plan voids AAA Discount???

I agree about working with AAA! I have found the online agencies that specialize in WDW are FAR better. I know some people like the package discount with AAA, but the headaches of working with AAA do not justify the savings.

Glad you were able to get what you wanted.

In order to get both the AAA discount off the room portion of the MYW package and the dining plan, you must book with AAA.

If anyone is getting a quote from AAA that is similar or even higher than what you could book yourself online with Disney World, then ask the AAA agent to ensure the AAA discount is reflected in the quotes. Unfortunately, many AAA agents are not questioning the quotes given to them by their Disney reps, so the quotes are coming back too high. If you continue to have problems, call a different AAA agency. After numerous problems with my local AAA travel agency, I called one in southern California and was successful!

Since there are currently no other discounts for me, the $356 savings was well worth my time.

Hope this helps! :wizard:

For grins, I just got a quote for a September weekend I've been looking at: 3 nights, 2x4 day MYW+H, and 2xDining. AAA priced out the same as disneyworld.com, even after I asked "now that includes the AAA discount, right?"

Not only that, AAA wants to also charge me (as a member) $25 to book the trip. Why was I paying that membership fee again?

Brian Noble - Some AAA agencies (and other agencies also) have started to charge "booking fees" in order to make up the income lost due to companies such as airlines reducing the amount of commssion they pay travel agents. That was just starting when I left AAA. AAA takes the commissions and uses it to support their expenses in running the travel agency.

It can vary by AAA club. Although they are all under the AAA name each club is run separately. I worked for AAA of Southern California, which was separate from AAA of Northern California for example. They can determine their own business practices. I don't know if it will vary by AAA office though, you could try a different one.

Good luck.

Well, i decided to just book the hotel. The package deal is not working out for me! I called AAA and was told a price for tickets, dining and hotel. I called back and decided not to get dining because we will not be at disney everyday. She gave me a price for POR w/7 day passes for 2 adult/2 kids for 1738.00. I booked the hotel from Disney for 938.00, and for 7 day passes on disneys site for 2 adult/2 kids are 764.00. Now, add 938.00 and 764.00 and it totals 1702.00! She was trying to charge me 1738.00! Then, i asked for a quote for POP w/2 rooms and 7 day tickets. Then she was arguing with me about i told her the tickets were cheaper on disneys website. She was getting mad and told me it was right in front of her and she was correct. I called and booked POP w/2 rooms w/AAA discount MYSELF for 1311.00. I will just buy the tickets myself soon from Disneys Website. Ive had bad luck with AAA's Pricing quotes! Oh, she was also GETTING ME SICK about telling me about the Trundle bed at POR! She said DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY BUGS ARE IN FLORIDA? THAT TRUNDLE BED IN ON THE FLOOR NEXT TO THE DOOR! I would not advise this! I thought about it and i decided on the 2 rooms at POP! I know there are bugs, but, she didnt have to say that!

I don't think the prices on WDW site for tickets include tax. That could be the reason that AAA was higher????

Just as I suspected, different agent, different answer. I called back and, on a 3-night moderate king package, the AAA quote came just about $100 under the WDW quote for a MYW+Dining package, just as it should have: 20% of the post-tax room rate is just about $33.

So, if at first you don't succeed, call call again.

I'm actually pretty tempted by this, as the quote includes bulk airtran airfare that is about $75 pp less than anything else I can find right now...

I'm glad you finally received an accurate quote. It shouldn't be so difficult; it took me several times, but I finally got what I wanted.

Happy planning... :wizard:

I got 6 nights POR alligator bayou trundle bed pool view for 2 adults 3 kids, shuttle fr airport (dis magic express)
which I know is standard...
5 day tickets no hop expires
airfaire from DM Iowa, exceedingly high comparitively
and dining for 3200

from emailing a AAA travel agent, I am not even an AAA member but she says this pkg is stil available to me...now I am no math wiz but I figure

140 night X6 840 not including the 11.5% tax
700 at least for food... been to DW know it is not cheap :)
1100 for plane was cheapest I could find to Sanford from DM would be over 1300
200 rent a car to drive from Sanford or van rental
850 tickets
total 3690 so I am not saving a huge amnt but we figured at about 113 pp per day...that is pretty awesome!!

I just figured out that I couldn't book the dining plan with the AAA discount though Disney, but while I questioned the CM she indicated that they are looking at a dining plan for the AP. I'm not saying this is going to happen but it would solve some of these discount issues if it does take place and is a decent deal.......

that would be nice. might consider getting an AP it that comes out soon.

I also had frustrations booking through AAA. I thought it would be smoother that way, but I kept wanting to figure out the Disney Math and know what all of the pieces cost. The agent couldn't or wouldn't tell me. She just kept saying "I just enter the information into the system" and gave me a total. It was so frustrating. We got the package, but I don't really know what we paid for the room vs the tickets or anything else.

I also felt I knew more than the AAA agent. I did find out that the quotes I was given automatically included travel insurance. Take that out, and the room discount was reflected as expected. If you do manage to book with AAA TA (I'm going to try another) try Insuremytrip.com for a better travel insurance rate.

This is crazy. I booked 7 nights for 2 Adults 3 Children at POR. I got an AAA discount for 129.00 a night. (Approx. 1000.00) total. For 2 Adults, 3 Children 10 Day Hopper w/No Exp. Leftover days for future use (Approx. 1600.00). I was interested in the Dining Plan (would be 700.00) Add this up and total is approx. 3300.00. I just called to try and book the dining plan w/tickets and i was given a total of 4100.00! It doesnt make sense! She told me the AAA rate was voided because you cant have it with a dining plan! But, still, it would only be around 150.00 more, not 800.00! Does this make sense? Who would even do this??

I've booked two AAA with dining packages - one for last month and one for Nov. I booked through AAA after calling Disney and checking the AAA rate from them first. I got the same rate through AAA and got dining. It was 15% off. We were very careful to make sure we were paying no more. Call AAA again and say you want the AAA discounted room, etc. Make sure you're getting same view, etc. Watch out for AAA insurance unless you want it.

We had to have all sections priced out in advance of going to the AAA office. We did this by calling Disney, checking online, etc. Then we went to AAA with a price we felt it should be. The agent came back with one price and we said - is that with the AAA discounted room so she did it again and we had our price. Put the pieces together before you go in. Ours also told us you couldn't do one day passes. We said I think we can - and we could. You'll probably know more, but you can get the AAA rate with dining.

i just stayed at poriverside, used triple aaa and got the free dining plan, me, hubby and son paid 1600, INCLUDING AIRFARE ROUNDTRIP FROM PITTSBURGH, 6 day hopper, all food and hotel, and magical express

I priced a package with AAA including room, dining plan, and park admission price. I did not think it was a very good deal. I think you can do better booking room only. Unfortunately, then the dining plan is not available.

im just lettin ya know, AAA was the cheapest, you probably didn't like the price cause paying for food before hand seems odd but for a family, the dining plan is a must

First I would call Disney to verity that they will refund your deposit. I know they will for room only, but not sure about packages. I think if your within 6 or 7 days of arrival you should have no trouble. If they say yes we will refund deposit then:

I would call AAA and make your new reservation w/dining, etc. I booked thru them after making Room only thru Disney because I too wanted dining. I got the same room discount. I think Disney only offers AAA so many discounts for each resort, so hopefully it will be available for you. You room cost should be the same as it was with room only ressie, your just adding dining & tkts.

After everything is booked then cancel Disney reservation. AAA requires 200.00 deposit with the balance due in full 45 days prior to arrival in WDW. If your within 45 days you will probably have to pay the full amt.

I had originally booked room only with AAA discount through Disney, then decided to add dining, I talked to a very friendly gal at Disney and told me I should call a AAA agent, which I did. I was able to get the discounts I wanted and cancel the room only through Disney. AAA asked for a $200 deposit, Disney had been one night room deposit, almost same amount!
