I just booked a great airfare for 3/31 - 4/7, but went to book a rental car & could not believe it - $500-700 for a mid-size WHAT??? I've been to Disney more than a dozen times & never paid anywhere near that - never been at that time of year. This is more than I paid for 4 airfares.

Does anyone know if this is really the prices? Anywhere to get a discount - like a BIG discount?

Thanks

I posted this on another thread but have gotten PMs from others that used it.

Car and Driver has a discount code available to all readers (i.e. the general public) for Enterprise. It is XVC1006 and the pin is CAR.

You can use my corporate code 1660221168 with Thrifty if you wish. The total for a mid size is $286.73. NO ID is required since it comes from property management company for building I work in. It also includes free additional driver which is normally $10/day extra. Thrifty is located onsite at Orlando.

Just found a super price at this link, by going to the mastercard section. $220 a week for spring break! Hot dog! It's Dollar rent a car, so not my first choice, but the price is right. Still going to keep trying the bid option (price line) to see if I can beat it. I'm guessing that you can easily cancel reservations made at the link below as long as they are enough in advance?

I found a good price, about $230 including tax, for 3/13 to 3/20 this week using Costco's website. We have Costco membership. Funny thing was, I did it actually returning 3/21 (we'll have a later flight, so added one more day and the coupon link was for a free day) and the weekly rate dropped significantly!!! It was much cheaper to actually keep the car for 8 days rather than 7! This was through Alamo.

Play with days and times a bit. If you have Costco, try their travel site, but also just in case if you do, print out the page that shows the "coupon". They may want it.

I was also shocked at first when I started looking for cars, and we usually don't use one (we love quick silver transportation but that will probably be blanked out as they aren't allowed to be mentioned here, I guess they did something once, but I usually just use them for about $100 plus round trip).

Thank you. I used your corp ID and it saved me $400 - for 4/3 - 4/10. Do you really suspect there won't be a problem? And I won't need any form of ID. I used an AMEX code with it and I will pay with AMEX, so hopefully that will do - have you ever used this code?

You have nothing to worry about. I have used it many times and they have never asked. I will give you the link to the website here.

Thrifty generally do not ask for Corporate ID verification but that is not always the case. If they do ask for verification you will be unable to provide it and will be charged the "current" rate.

One thing to note with Thrifty is that they do not offer many corporate ID's to the public. Almost all of their public offers are via promo codes.

At minimum, if you are going to use this code have a back up reservation with another rental company.

You might try Priceline. I bid $11 a day for a midsize and Hertz took my bid. This was the week of December 11-18.
