Hi All:cool1:! I have three questions and hope you can help me out, thanks!
1) I registered full marathon last May and one month ago my DH decided to join as my pacer. I found my bib number is about 10000 and his is 20000+ (although he asked for a 4:30 finish time). I have a 2 hours HM result but DH has no race record:confused3. If we asked nicely, is that possible to change DH to my corral? Or our only choice to run together is for me to stand at the last corral with him:sick:? I heard that the race is very crowded. If we start after 20000 people, is that possible to run a 10min pace during the first half?
2) By my mistake, I signed up for two small T-shirt for me and DH. Is that possible to change size at the packet pickup?
3) Our flight will arrive at 1:40pm Saturday, I am being silly to worry about what if our flight get delayed and I can't reach expo by 6pm? If this happens, is there any way that we can still run the race?

This will be our first marathon, so I am very nervous now:goodvibes

I'm a novice and cant really help - but the experts will be here soon!!

I do know I've read some frustration about the crowds at the beginning - and if he doesnt have an official time he cant move up (even when you get there, if you didnt send in your official proof of time, they move you back from what I've read)

but it does thin out after a mile or so - and you will be moving forward in that mile - you'll do GREAT!! Trust yourself!

Welcome and good luck in your first race....

1) No if you run together you will have to go back to join him. Sorry, without proof of time he cannot move forward. You will have stretches as you enter Epcot and at the merge point at mile 3.4 that will slow you. Also the hills (overpasses) in mile 5 will cause a walk due to the roadway necking down. Finally, the underpass under 7 seas lagoon will be a walk for you. Miles 11 through 12 may be slower than you want but manageable. Once through mile 12 you should be fine. Also, points other than these should be OK.

Kind of a hidden lesson here is that you should estimate a time one minute slower than the maximum requiring proof. You will be in a better corral than estimating a time that did require proof and failing to provide that proof.

2) The best advice I can give you is ask at the expo about changing sizes. If you are at the expo first thing Thursday expect the answer to be no. Be nice and move on. Go back on Saturday and you should be able to exchange at that time. That is when they will have a better feel for inventory remaining. Can’t argue with that process; how would you like to come in on Saturday wanting a size and the race had none left due to exchanges.

3) Never mind my previous answer in 2) as you are near the end of the expo. I left it in because I know someone else is asking that question.

You should have a contingency plan with someone who will be there on Saturday. In advance you should scan and forward a copy of your SIGNED waivers, your driver’s licenses and letters stating that you are not able to make the expo on time. There is no race day packet pickup so if you cannot get to the expo on time you will not be able to run.

Sandy is right..if he doesn't have proof of time he can't move up. You can move back.

It does thin out a little bit after you get going but then bunches back up when the courses merge...but then thins out again. As for a 10mpm pace in the beginning, I am not sure, i would think you would be weaving in and out of a lot of people.

As for the shirt size...they specifically say that you cannot change sizes, so I would think you are out of luck. Although I have seen people trying to swap at the expo, so maybe you would be able to do that.

Finally, your flight...your flight would have to be delayed by quite a bit to not make it to the expo. Although I see you are from NY...which airport are you flying out of? weather up here looks good next weekend, so you should be OK.

Good Luck!

Thanks Sandy!:goodvibes
This is my first/second post and I am still playing around with avatar/signature pictures. I love:love:disney and this forum!

Thanks!!! Laurie and Coach Charles!
It seems I didn't plan too well:rolleyes1 But I am quite sure this won't be our last WDW marathon weekend! Already thinking about Goofy next year!!! We will plan it better next time:cool1:
If it is too hard to run at our pace, we will just stop and take pictures:yay:
Poor DH, he will be so upset if he can't get his T-shirt. We are planning to wear them together in theme parks after race. Hope there will be some large ones left. The weather of next weekend in NYC seems ok, we will leave from LGA, hope will arrive on time:cheer2:

As far as the shirts - the are not t-shirts - they are tech shirts - long sleeve running shirts - they do run on the large side - I just am not sure how a small would be on a man. Since you will at the expo closer to ending time you might be in luck in exchanging it. Good luck

I just thought I'd reiterate this part.

Arriving at airport at 1:40 seems like it will work. Will you have a car rental then you can hightail to Expo and be fine. Only if...flight is delayed would I start sweating.

Here's WISHing you the best and a fun event.

Be sure to say hi as you are passing all the folks along the way!

I emailed them about changing shirt sizes since I have the wrong size too. I didn't read the Disney web site carefully, and when Active.com's entry form said "t-shirt size," I asked for an XL. They told me to go to the Expo on Saturday afternoon, and if any L tech shirts are available, they'll let me switch them out. I think you could do the same thing to try to get a larger size too.

Thanks Sandy!:goodvibes
