Please help a USA mommy plan a trip to DLP

My DH, DS(6) and DS(9) have been to DL 8X, WDW 3X and a disney cruise 2X in the past 5 years, so we definitely love the mouse. We want try DLP this March, and despite reading this message board, I still have some questions.

What are the Disney hotels like compared to WDW's hotels. I have stayed at all 3 levels at WDW and been pleased. My main concern is cleanliness. I would rather sleep on a clean cot than a big bed in a smelly room.

Airfare - any ideas other than Travelocity, Expedia or Orbitz?

Weather in March - much rain? Jackets - snow gear?

Hi you will find Disneyland Paris hotel rooms a lot smaller than WDW hotel rooms, in fact you will find this all over europe. I stayed at Pop Century in Jan and I thought the room was huge!!! A lot of 4* hotels in large cities in Europe would not have rooms that big so be prepared and pay for a higher priced room if you feel liek you need the space!

I have always found Disneyland Paris rooms fine, nothing to complain about! Admittedly customer service is not the same in europe as its is in the USA so you may notice a difference ......!

I am sure you will have a great time the Disneyland Park is much nicer than the Magic Kingdom and there are few rides you won't have been on yet. Are you planning to go to Paris or other parts of europe?

I'll try to help a little. At WDW and DL we have only stayed at the deluxe hotels and I would say the deluxe hotels at DLRP are on a par with those. Having said that all the comments I have read for all the hotels at DLRP have always said that all the hotels are nice and clean.

Airfare, are you booking the flights seperately? When we go to America we always book seperate flights and fly with BA or Virgin Atlantic.

Weather is March, it will probably rain a little (but DLRP is very well set up for rain!) but you won't need snow gear, but I would pack a fleece jacket and trousers. Having said that when we went in April one day it snowed and the next we were in tshirts!

We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each

I will try to answer some of your questions. I haven't heard any problem with the cleanliness of the Disney hotels at all so am sure it wont be an issue. We have a sticky thread at the top that will give you some information and reviews on all the hotels. The Disneyland Hotel is the deluxe hotel of the lot with it situated at the park entrance but all hotels are within walking distance of the park.

Sorry I cannot really answer your flight question - if we fly to WDW we use British Airways or Virgin so you could try their flights

It will be colder in March - it is very difficult to predict the weather and Disneyland Paris has lots of places to hide from the rain if there is. The average temp for Paris in March is a low of 5C and a high of 12C

I went for the day in March and it was a bit chilly but the sun was shining.

Always found the hotels in Disney comfy and very clean, though be prepared they are slightly smaller than rooms in WDW.

We are going to be in Oxford for a week for my DH's reunion, so while we are there we want to travel around a bit.

I was thinking we could fly directly into Paris, and do a 3 day/2 night stay at DLP - bascially we could get in 1 good day at the park, and then take the chunnel back to London.

We like to stay on site at Disney parks to keep the magic flowing - are all DLP's hotel's magical? The reason I ask is that when we stayed at Coronado Springs in WDW, the hotel was nice - but, alas, very low on pixey dust.

I think your boys would love the Hotel Cheyenne. Its set on a wild west theme. The rooms are great and me and DD really loved it, so much so that after our January trip next year all our future stays will be at the Cheyenne

Sounds great!! I have found all the disney hotels (as well as staying in them I liek to visit them ) magical, the one I like the least is the Santa fe ( this is my personal view), the rooms looks fine but the I don't like the theming of the hotel - its meant to be mexican and it is the cheapest hotel. Teh Sequoia Lodge seems to get the best reviews on here, and is a favourite for winter breaks. Its like Wilderness Lodge but at moderate level.

I really like the Cheyenne - its themed like a Western cowboy town and different from what you get at WDW!

As Emma said Hotel Cheyene has a wild west theme and would be compared to a value hotel at WDW. If you would prefer a hotel with a pool you have the choice of 4 - Disneyland Hotel,Hotel New York,Newport Bay and Sequoina Lodge. As I said looking at the reviews will give you an insight to the hotel and the rooms

I'd agree with that - certainly for me, there was Disney magic in the main areas of the Cheyenne - its external theming is excellent .

If you get commuter flights to Paris CDG airport from the Oxford area, you could have almost 3 full days at DLRP with 2 nights in an onsite hotel. Thats what we do. The parks open at 10am, and we usually arrive at 11am on the first day. Have all that day in the parks, all the next, and leave at around 5pm on our 3rd day, to catch the commuter flight back to our local airport in the Midlands.

If you're going in March, midweek, the parks will probably close at 7pm. There are no fireworks at DLRP at that time of year.
