PLEASE HELP a potential DVCer w. a basic question!

re: the elevators and the comment made by CarolMN above: "The distances between elevators and rooms are very likely similar."

Mmmmmmm, I have to respectfully disagree, even though of course I haven't seen them yet. According to wdwinfo's page on the Boardwalk Villas (and Deb's page as well, I just checked), there are 383 units on the Villas side of the Boardwalk. According to Deb's page ( http://www.wdwig.com/faq_bcv.htm ), the BCV is going to be only 205 units, almost *half* the size of BWV. Thus, even if there are only one set of elevators for the BC Villas, I would think that the longest walk will be far shorter at the BCV than at BWV.

That said, we stayed in a 2 bedroom Villa at BWV this January that was *almost* as far away as you could get from the elevators, and even though it *was* a very long walk, we did not mind at all - we had a *gorgeous* room and a spectacular view. I would agree that if distance from the elevators and potential noise are your only two concerns about BWV, I would still consider it, unless you have a mobility issue.

But remember, as hard as BWV is to get into at the 7 month window at certain times of year, Beach Club is almost certainly going to be *harder* to get into if it really is half the size of BWV as seems to be the case.

Really, if BCV is where you want to stay, that is where I would buy the points.

We almost purchased at HH because a guide told us the 7 month window story. At the time we anted OKW but it was sold out. We decided to buy Disnet cuz that''s where we'd mainly stay. We bought BWV and loved it after staying there. We were in several rooms and had no problem with noise. That's what turned me off to it. I thought OKW was so laid back and quite. After being at BWV, that's what we like, all of the activity andthings to do, so close! The rooms weren't noisy. the pool is nice. We also liked being able to pool hp to BC which we won't be able to do anymore (boo hoo). I love the closeness to the parks of the Epcot rsorts. You can walk to MGM now and to Epcot. It's great when there is a crowd and you can walk back "home". It should be the same with BCV. We will be staying at OKW this time due to late reservations (no availabilty ot BW, WL, BCV). I am not looking as forward to the accomodations as I would be otherwisw. It still will be nice but I would prefer BWV. I would have also liked to try WLV but maybe aniother time.... We also purchased extra points a VB ( our idea, not the guides) due to the incentives at the time. We won't stay there often but wanted extra points and BWV was sold out. We will use them for trade or cruise or whatever. We'll also stay there sometimes. I agree with the buy where you want to stay. Your time frame for when you can go (months) will also probably change over the next 40 years. I know ours will. It wouldn't have been a good idea to buy basd on our situation now. It will vary considerably. We will hit various times of the year over the next 40 years. The only bad thing about renting points is that it will take timeand you may pay a higher price. I think you may regret not buying BCV if that is what appeals to you. i would love to but them now but we have enough points for now (if that's possible).

I'm trying to remember, but I don't think that our guide tried to push HHI or VB in any way, nor did she make the claim that the 11 month window doesn't matter. That's somewhat disappointing and disillusioning that some of the guides try to pull that.
