Please Give Them Back Their Db!!

I would term 208 posts in a 44 hour period by one poster on the same board (CB) on the same subject (debate) to be spam. And this is just one poster. Multiply that by at least 10 people here who've been advocating a return of the DB and you have 2,080 posts on the same board on the same subject.

2008 posts in a 44 hour period = spam to me.

In that respect, I'd also term it bad behavior. That's not name-calling, it's just behaving badly.

Your math is a little bit above me. What subject are you talking about? The anti- GW posts? Or the one or two threads dealing with the demise of the DB?

Do the rules have a limit to the number of posts one is allowed to make per hour? Can you quote that part for me?

You seem like a really smart person. Do you have any favorite subjects you enjoy talking about? I haven't been reading your posts on here. It might make it easier for all of us to talk if you answer.:D

Nope, it's just posting a lot about something you have no interest in.

OMG people!

:rotfl:

get a grip!

"They closed our board" "Waahhh" "Let me debate you with 12 questions in one paragraph"

That's what you sound like.

:rotfl:

If anyone sees a post that is outside of the guidelines but hidden under another title please just hit "report to a moderator" and it will be dealt with, takes less than 2 seconds and is very effective. I really don't see any reason for people to get upset.

Thankyou Alex! I'll keep an eye out, and make sure I report it directly!;)

Here is an idea, if you stumble upon a thread you find offensive or distasteful in some way.....STOP READING!!!!!!!

Okay...LET IT GO!!! Enough. If you don't like the looks of a thread, don't read it.

I never really spent a lot of time on the DB, but I notice a disturbing trend recently. Nearly every discussion about whether or not the DB has a place here and should come back refers to "Us" vs "Them", as if people who post on the debate board are somehow different. I thought the DIS was one big community. The few times I read the DB, a lot of the people posting were some of the same people that post on the CB. Why is there an "Us vs Them" mentality? Is there actually a difference?

(I'm reminded of the Dr Seuss story about the Star Bellied Sneetches)

Exactly !

I just do not get it. They close down the DB, tell us to post here, and now the regurlars here are angry with us.

People who's posts I have often admired, are now slamming anything that does not fit into their idea of what the CB should be like? Hardly seems fair.

It seems that the DB people have been told to deal with it, but as the CB people ( many of whom were elated when they first heard the DB was shut down ) realize their world has also changed, they are reacting unkindly.

If two boards are going to be combined into one, change is going to happen. It is inevitable. The vast majority of my posts have been made on the CB. And I have seen enough people on the CB slip into attack mode to know that no one should be asuming all problems are caused by DB people.

Let's please remember that none of us asked for this change, and try to respect each other and each others' differences.

faithinkarma nobody told you to "post here". What was said was that debate type posts would be allowed here (and they really always have been) as long as they met the forum guidelines. Much of what was posted on the debate board did not and won't be posted anywhere on the DIS. Some people have tried to make it seem like we are finding a new home for people and that is not the case.
The bottom line is that ALL posts on ANY board must meet the DIS posting guidelines whether they are a debate or calling for pixie dust.

I must have missed something. Other than a few debates, which I didnt read Ive only seen the regular stuff here. And since a friendly debate is allowed here on the CB, I cant complain about it.

And edited to add...as a regular here, Im not angry with or at anyone. Its always nice to have more people around the CB. :D

I've pointed this out a couple of times and it keeps getting overlooked ;) Thanks for bringing it up again. The DIS is just one big neighborhood, sure there are many streets but we all live in the same neighborhood.

Here's my 2 cents. I gave up the DB because of a few really mean posters. It wasn't fun anymore. I've been hanging around here because of the lack of that "debate" feel. Much more friendly over here. If that changes, I'll just stick to the Disney forums.

Was there an explanation why the DB was shutdown?

You are absolutely right WA, no one told us to post here, we were just told we could post here. And, logically, where else would we go? So in a sense, we were told to find a new home. If we wanted to commiserate, and we did, this was the only place for us to go. Although the CB is probably my home anyway, as the vast majority of my posts have been made here.

It just somehow feels unfair that while the DB people were mostly taking out their frustration on those who closed the board, the CB regulars are taking out their frustration on the DB regulars.

Um, so I just counted, and on the first page of the CB, there's 44 topics that are CB-ish, and 4 that are DB-ish. And by DB-ish, I mean this one, the welcome by Dan to "us" ;), the "why have kids" (which isn't a debate but could be...) and VH asking if this is our home. So how is that spam?

ETA: I don't think I'm exact on the numbers - it's really hard to count on this monitor - but I think the point remains.

you know, I've posted regularly on both boards. I'm beginning to question whether the CB'er ... well, that's better left unsaid, isn't it?

I'll post whatever topic I choose to, as long as it's within DIS guidelines. If you don't want to read it, there are two features I recommend: the back button and IGNORE.

ITA.

I'm hardly a confrontational type but I think that the posts complaining about DB'ers trying to carry on (within guidelines of course) are unfair. If you don't like the thread, don't read it!
